LARRY!! 2 Pros and 2 Newbies Hit WDW Jan/Feb 2012...Update 6/3

Ahhh Pop, I miss it so much! I am pretty sure we were right around where you were once. I love being so close to the bus stops!

Oh man the waiting would drive me insane, especially so early on when you just want to get to that first park. I have a friend that I finally just started lying to about when I was leaving...I'll tell her I'd be there in ten minutes and when I arrive twenty or so minutes later, I only have to wait like five minutes for her

I'm here - I guess if I'm on your wedding planning thread, I can't help but report on all of them!:goodvibes I'm having trouble keeping up, but I will pop in from time to time! Your wedding will be here before you know it!:bride:

Im here finally and I will definitely catch up later ! I come back on DIS and Im going to be late for work LOL!

How fun you got adjoining rooms!:cool1: It is hard to go with a newbie, because they just don't understand the pace needed to do everything you want them to experience.

Well I finally got to catch up! My husband always says to me when we are at Disney you didn't tell me we were having a race! LOL! I know that feeling I always have to be on the move and get everything thats planned in my head done :) How did Chris make out being in a boot while there? You are so making me Miss POP!! We actually stayed in that section two summers ago and loved it! It is actually very close to classic hall and that was the year I drove so even more convienent another friend from DiS Thunderbird1 stays in that section all the time so I decided to try it and we loved it also!!! Ive always been disappointed with our room assignments in the 60's section but when we were in the 50's we were right next to the Juke Box and Loved it as much as the 80's although I must say the 80's section seems closer to classic hall we were ground floor facing the pool :)Tammy was in the 90's the same visit and her location was great also. We are trying to go in Sept if we do we will be back home at POP unless AOA is booking reg rooms I want to try there ! In June we rented points and we will be at OKW for 2 nights :) I can't wait to hear the rest now I have to go catch up on other things Ive been off of here for so long!

Hi! I just ready a lot of your anniversary trip and loved it! You and your DB remind me of me and my DB! You guys are cute together! I haven't started reading this but I just wanted to say hello and I'll be reading so today to catch up! Sounds like fun! ;)

Lol you know someone has the Disney blues when they start crying reading their friend's tr before they even get in a park! OMG I can't wait for more!! I love hearing about your adventures!! Especially, AK, I miss it. Totally didn't even get to enjoy it the day we went last summer because it was ridiculously crowded!

Awwwww <3 I miss you! Oh, I remember that! Chris and I only went for one day so we missed AK too.

Hey,
Just tuning in to your TR. I love the photo's you have taken. I can't wait to read more about your trip :-)

Thanks for joining in and thank you!

I haven't stayed at Pop for a few years and I like the new furniture and flat screen. Your room looks nice and bright and yeah for the fridge and a coffee maker. All the comforts of home!

Having the rooms refurbed was nice. We were in an older room in 2010 and the difference was noticable this time. We love the fridge!

Such a good feeling pulling onto Victory Way and into Pop! :cool1: Standing at the check-in counter is just awesome. I peek over at the Everything Pop sign several times while getting our paperwork. It calls to me!

Just walking into Pop made me the happiest girl alive. I just love the colors, smells, everything!

Seeing your room picture makes me feel like I could walk right into that room and be at home again. I've stayed in every building except Lady and Mowgli & Baloo. Every other building on that property I have done, and several more than once. Jill hasn't been in the Computer building or Roger Rabbit, either, because I was at those on trips she was not able to be a part of. Walking right across the parking lot from that side of Classic Hall is nice, but I still prefer the 50's through the 70's sections. I'm sure it's because I'm older and can relate more to those things. I was already grown by the time the Walkman or Roger Rabbit came along.

Wow, MeMom, that's a lot of buildings! Although our room location was nice this time, I'd say I did prefer the 50's. 80's was nice for a short trip because we didn't spend a ton of time at the resort, but on a longer trip I would have liked 50's-70's, too!

Jill is right about Kay. We have to tell her at least a half hour earlier than when we really want to get going. She's not going to change, so we have to cheat the time a little. ;) I FB messaged her the other day, and she says she does plan on going next spring break, so I have a year to psych myself up for dealing with the time issue again. :goodvibes

On to Animal Kingdom!

 you will see as the trip went on we started to do that with our friends!

Aww YAY for Pop! What an adorable resort. :goodvibes
Oof, it's never fun to be in that kind of situation... you don't want the other people to think you're trying to be in charge but you also don't want them to hold you back! I hope yall enjoyed Animal Kingdom, looking forward to hearing about it!

I love Pop! That's exactly how I felt with our friends at this point!

Ahh I love your checking in pics :) I love love love that feeling no matter how many times we've all done it!! Its the best feeling ever!
I had to laugh at you about your friends... ohhhh i know that feeling so well and cannot take it!! I'm such a you-know-what and sure you can relate! ;) I cannot believe they forgot the key! Ugh! At least you got on the bus, that would have been horrible seeing it go by and set such a bad tone for a few minutes! Not a good way to start your trip!!
I love reading!!!!! :)

Thanks girl! It is the best feeling ever!

I'm the same as you Angie lol I was so annoyed they forgot their tickets but tried to stay calm and was better since we didn't miss a bus due to them.

I'm here! You know I wouldn't miss out on any of your trip reports.

YAAAAAAAAAY for arriving and having your rooms ready. I remember when you texted me saying yall were in the 80s! :thumbsup2 BIG thumps up for being close to the bus stops!

That picture of Chris in front of the AK sign is precious.

Hey hun! It was great being close to the buses!

OMG, it's funny you bring up Chris in that picture. When he saw I posted it on here he said "Did anyone notice my retarded wave?" :rotfl:

Following along. I stayed in the 80's building during my last trip :)

Thanks for joining in!!

Oooh I would have been doing some rhythmic breathing waiting for your friends....I go often enough as most of us here do that I usually go at my own pace but when you have newbies you want them to have the best experience so it's a different vibe. Thankfully they made it to the AK bus on time!!! :thumbsup2

I hope you were double fisting African margaritas or Lost on Safari's when you made it through the gate!!

Tracy

 rhythmic breathing. When it's just Chris and I we're able to go slower but with 4 days and 2 newbies, we didn't have that luxury! Oh, I didn't even get an alcoholic bev! Ahhh, I'll get plenty on my Disneymoon lol

Ahhh Pop, I miss it so much! I am pretty sure we were right around where you were once. I love being so close to the bus stops!

We actually had a wonderful Pop location! We did start lying to our friends, too, about the time we wanted them to be ready lol

I'm here - I guess if I'm on your wedding planning thread, I can't help but report on all of them!:goodvibes I'm having trouble keeping up, but I will pop in from time to time! Your wedding will be here before you know it!:bride:

:thumbsup2 Thanks for coming here!

Im here finally and I will definitely catch up later ! I come back on DIS and Im going to be late for work LOL!

Hey Colleen!

How fun you got adjoining rooms!:cool1: It is hard to go with a newbie, because they just don't understand the pace needed to do everything you want them to experience.

It was good at the beginning that we had the adjoining rooms. They just didn't get it though!

We normally aren't in such a rush but it was different this trip! Chris did decent with the boot. It did start to bother him by the end of day 2 but he lived through it lol I love Pop a lot! Our location was good for a short trip where we spent little time in the room. AoA looks so awesome, I hope you get to stay there if you go in Sept! Oh, I love OKW! I miss it there!!

I am joining in!

Great start and I can't wait to hear about your adventures at AK!

Hey Caitlin! So glad you're here!

Hi! I just ready a lot of your anniversary trip and loved it! You and your DB remind me of me and my DB! You guys are cute together! I haven't started reading this but I just wanted to say hello and I'll be reading so today to catch up! Sounds like fun! ;)

Hello friends :) Hope everyone's doing well! Things are good here, just busy. Chris and I are getting more and more wedding tasks done but they take time! We also keep busy watching our Rangers kick butt and playing with our niece, Aubrey. But, I'm back with an update! So YAY!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last time I wrote we had just arrived at AK after a few little bumps, caused by our newbie friends. I was so excited to get to show them AK because Sam in particular thought AK was a zoo…she literally said to me “Isn’t that just a zoo?” Any DISer knows that’s far from the truth! It was around 12:10 when we arrived and we were all hungry since we hadn’t eaten since our bagels at the airport. So we knew food was one of the first orders of business. However, before Chris and I could enter the park, we had to stop at Guest Relations to turn our AP vouchers into real APs! That’s where we headed first. I spotted this guy along the way

Timon!

032.jpg

There was no one in line at GR so getting our APs was a breeze! I was so excited to finally have it in my hands! While at GR we also picked up some 1st Visit buttons for Sam and Joe. In addition, I asked the lady if there was any way we could get a Guest Assistance Card for Chris since he was in the boot with his ankle injury. She nicely told me that they would just suggest he get a wheelchair. That wasn’t happening (if it were a more serious injury and he really couldn’t walk then obviously we would have gotten one!) so I thank the nice CM and off we went! Here are our very first APs. Mine is Pluto, Chris is Donald.

033.jpg

We headed in to the park and came up with a rough game plan. We’d head into Asia and get the boys on line for food at Yak and Yeti while Sam and I ran over to Everest to grab some FPs! So that’s where we headed.

034.jpg

035.jpg

I love the detail that goes into EVERYTHING at AK
036.jpg

Finally we made it here
037.jpg

The park didn’t look crowded at all but I was SHOCKED when we got over to Y&Y…the lines were outrageous. We didn’t mind too much though since we really weren’t in a huge rush. Sam and I checked out the menu, told the guys what we wanted and began the trek to EE.

There she is, in all her glory
038.jpg

On the walk over, as we’re approaching EE, Sam says to me “OMG, that’s a ride?!?” I told her “YES!” it is a ride and it’s one of the best in WDW, if not THE best. In my head though I was thinking, clearly she didn’t even bother to go to Disneyworld.com and check anything out, otherwise she would have known that the big mountain was a roller coaster! We grabbed our FPs quickly (no lines) with return times of 1:20-2:20. Off we went, back towards the boys at Y&Y. We headed straight for the seating area, looking all over figuring they were seated; but, we even went way to the back area and saw no boys in sight! Finally we realized they were still in line! They actually hadn’t even ordered yet! UGHH! Shortly though, they ordered and then Sam and I waited in line while they went to search for seats. I have to say, Y&Y on January 31 (SLOW season!) was the absolute slowest service I have ever experienced in WDW. Our past 2 trips have been in June and July, much busier times, and never have we waited as long as we did at Y&Y! It didn’t bother me too much but I didn’t want Sam and Joe to get the impression that this was the norm!

Anyway, we finally got the food and found the boys sitting in the back seating area. If anyone has ever eaten at Y&Y in the back seating area, you know what’s back there…birds. LOTS OF BIRDS! And if you know me, you know I’m really, super scared of birds. Yea, bad mix. We really had no choice but to stay there so I just picked my feet up onto my chair and ate like that so none of the ducks would come near my ankles lol I ate honey chicken, Chris got beef lo mein, Sam got honey chicken and Joe got Sweet and Sour chicken. Chris and I also got an eggroll to split and Sam and Joe each got chocolate mousse since they had the DDP.

040.jpg

041.jpg

We were all pretty hungry so we cleaned our dishes! It was around 1:15 by this point so we headed towards EE! Chris and I were so excited to meet with the Yeti again! The monkeys were hiding when we passed them on the way
042.jpg

Love how the top of this matches up with the top of EE
043.jpg

044.jpg

045.jpg

We made it!
046.jpg

So we’re about to walk on to the FP line and Joe says he can't ride a rollercoaster right now, he’s too full and he’ll get sick. Then he and Sam stood there for like 3-4 minutes going back and forth on whether they were going to ride, if Sam was gonna just come with us and leave Joe, if she was going to get sick too, etc. Finally, Chris and I say we’re going, come or don’t come! They ultimately decide stay back and wait for us. Of course, it was amazing as always! Hint:: Most rollercoasters are the most intense in the front…not EE! Ride in the very last row, you won’t regret it! Here’s our redneck picture, look at my crazy eyes haha

047.jpg

We met back up with Sam and Joe and headed off to our next destination…the safari! Off we went, snapping pictures non-stop along the way.

048.jpg

049.jpg

To my excitement, this lovely lady stopped us along our way. Sam was in awe!

Love DeVine! At last, we made it to the safari. The standby time said like 15 minutes I believe so we decided to just wait in line. Well, what a good choice we made because there was NO WAIT. Literally, we walked all the way through the line and right onto a jeep. Crazy! So our tour guide was Bill and he was decent. I’ll post just some of the pictures I took since I know you’ve all seen them 100 times!

The male lion, unfortunately, was nowhere to be found and the female was lying down and we could barely see her…boo!

After the safari I checked the times guide and saw there was a Festival of the Lion King show at 2:30…it was about 2:15 so I figured we could hightail it over the Camp Minnie Mickey and see my favorite show in WDW. Problem was, the other members of my party weren’t in a rush like I was lol So I kept walking fast and getting ahead of them! We did stop for a few pictures along the way

071.jpg

072.jpg

At last, we made it!
073.jpg

We ran in JUST as the show was starting and were in the giraffe section…my least favorite section. I mean, do giraffes really make a “low bleeting sound, kind of like a sheep?” Who really even knows?! I never do well with getting clear pictures of this show but I do have a few!

Sam and Joe loved the show! I was so happy they liked it since it’s the most amazing show, in my eyes.

So where did we head next? You’ll have to wait until next time to hear about the rest of our day at AK and our evening with some Italian dinner!

I was in the Giraffe section the last time that I saw the FOTLK. I know, low bleating sounds? Really?

Oh no, the newbs backed out of EE at the last minute?! Argh! I would have just left them too. :lmao: It's not THAT intense of a ride that you'll get sick. Well, not to me.

I was so excited to get on and see that you had updated! :goodvibes

So exciting to turn in your vouchers for real AP's! Have yall decided on a Holiday trip at all, too?

I can't believe the longs were THAT long at Y&Y on a January afternoon! Luckily the food is delicious and worth the wait... even if you have to sit with birds

Why in the world did Sam & Joe not want to go on EE? They're craaazzyyy! :lmao: Full bellies is NOT an excuse!

Girl, I'd be right there with rushing to the Lion King show! Gahhhh, I love that so much!

PS; Yall's Save the Date is on our fridge and the other day when my mama came over, Jake was telling her all about you two! :goodvibes

Great TR! I am so disappointed I missed you at AK, we left just before you got there, did EE 3 times in a row, I do not recommend this as both of us were severely sick to our stomachs from it!

Cant wait for the next installment

OH and the picture on EE was great we made a point of doing silly things for them! the last one on EE I was bored and Chad was taking a picture! It was cute, we got a few good ones.

No EE for Sam & Joe? :sad2: I hope they went back and rode it later. So glad they liked Safari and FOTLK. Your redneck ride photo is great! You look like you are having tons of fun.

Lovely pictures. Your trip is really off to a good start.

AK just a zoo?! :rotfl: Glad Sam and Joe ended up liking it even though they did decide to ride EE!! I hope they got to experience it later!

Nice pictures. We didn't get to see Lion King in December. The line was so long that from where we were standing, the CM said we'd have to wait to get into the second show away.

I won't be in front of you making your line long for EE. I did it once, and I might do it again someday, but if I never do, I am good with that, too. It was a little too much for me.

Have a great weekend, girlie!

Great updates! I can't believe your friends didn't want to go on EE, that's one of the best rides in Disney!

Your safari pics are great, and I love FOTLK! I'd love to sit in the giraffe section, I love giraffes! :lovestruc I'm not really sure they make that noise, though, they seem kind of silent to me! I'll have to google it!

Your friends are stressing me out :rotfl2: I hope they went back later and rode EE  Happy that you were able to see DeVine :goodvibes I always love catching her and seeing people's reactions! Just so you know that on your way back to the bird section at Y&Y there is a nice little windows that sells drinks :rolleyes1 Happy that so far you are enjoying your day at the "zoo!!" :rotfl:

Tracy

So how did they like the zoo? :lmao:

Glad you got to ride EE. Did they ever get to ride? (I guess I can just keep reading and find out, huh?)

I'm with ya on the birds....me no likey! We don't eat outside at Casey's for that very reason. Ugh!

Great picture! :thumbsup2
