With a group of about 27...all immediate family do you think it would be better to split up among a hotel or rent a couple of homes? I was thinking a hotel on site would be better so we wouldn't have to worry about transportation. Any thoughts?????????

We went with a group of 20 in 2003 and it was VERY nice to have two homes. But two groups of drove and then two more cars were rented by my inlaws.

IT was nice to have two private pools, for hte kids to have rooms to go to, to be able to eat there and cook and have snacks and a full sized fridge and for the adults to play games late into the night while the kiddos slept!!!

It would have been more expensive in a hotel and I don't think we would have enjoyed it as much

Going again with large group(9 days:banana: ) We rented a house and loved it. Pool, hot tub and game room plus we are able to eat at the house in the morning. For transportation this time, we rented a large van to transport most of the group.

We do this 2 times a year. Friends and family members get together and share a larger home.

It is nice to have the common areas so we can spend time together. It is not so easy when we did it at a motel going back some years. Having the pool and games room allows us to be together and competitive something else we enjoy.

It is great to have breakfast, snacks, drinks and some dinners at home. We save a ton of money. There is also a bed for every one so you can have alone time if needed.

Staying on site would be good for transportation if you do not want to all rent cars?

I would definitely consider staying in a home for a large group, but only if you plan to rent several cars and have cell phones to coordinate departures from the parks. At one point twelve of us stayed together on this last trip and we had a fantastic time. We happened to have four cars, but could have gotten away with two. The older folks left the parks around 5 pm and then the rest of us stayed until 11:30 pm. You really have to consider the touring styles and expectation of everyone before you decide how many cars you will want to rent. We found off site buffets to work well for our group. They accommodate large numbers of people and we could all sit together without having reservations dictate when we had to be there. Breakfast at the villa was also a time and money saver. Some people had cereal, others made eggs or pancakes, some had fruit, others had pastries. Our villa had 5.5 bathrooms so there was no waiting for the shower which was another plus. I would want at least one bathroom per family staying in the home. Good luck with your decision.

seems like houses are the way to go with a large group. Anyone ever rent 2 houses...i would love for them to be side by side!

These two in Windsor Hills have the same owner and they are side by side and have also gotten good reveiws: http://valhallavillas.com/gallery.htm
There's also a lot in some of the other Formosa Garden area subdivisions.
This site has lots of them:

The only problem we had with our family reunion in a house was the noise. :scared1: It was off the charts. It just seemed that even late at night there was no "wind down" time.
Next family reunion we're doing a couple of rooms on site at the same resort.
