If you are planning to go to Disneyland today, u might want to bring a mask or something. Now, I know anaheim is pretty far away from San Diego, but hey you can still get hurt. (I woke 6:00 in the morning to go to school and got a phone call not to come to school). so people, watch out, and it WILL be HOOTTTTT anyways.

There are several major fires burning in the San Diego area. Is it affecting Anaheim? I'd heard there was a fire in Malibu, maybe that's where it's coming from.

I'm in SD now (right by the border) and the wind is blowing to the South. It's very dark here, sky is brown/orange. It's "snowing" ash. They turned off the intake fans in the building I'm working at, so the air in here is decent (though you can smell the fire), but outside it is difficult to breath.

there are fires all over the place here. I am half an hour from Anaheim, and it's pretty bad here! Hard to breathe and orange glow. Mind you, I am very close to Malibu and there's a pretty big fire there, but like I said, there are several in the areas between San Diego and up here!

Pretty windy too, I wouldn't want to be at DLR today!

Without a So. Cal. geography lesson, there are 3 major areas that are being affected by fire. Malibu, San Diego, Orange County.

The San Diego and Malibu fires are not a concern for Disneyland.

The Irvine (Orange County) fires, however, are about 15-20 miles from Disneyland. According to a friend about 10 minutes from Disneyland right now, the air is relatively clear. The wind, of course, can change anytime and blow the smoke various directions.

We are close enough to the fires to be keeping a watchful eye on the news, but not close enough to have the car packed (although I will admit there is a list of "stuff to take if we have to get out" sitting on the coffee table) and I am not leaving our dog in the yard home alone today.

Stay safe everyone.

If you go to the disneyland section of the Dis boards, you will see that so far no one is reporting any problems from the park today.

So hopefully, it will not affect Disneyland and it will be PUT OUT and not affect any more of our VMK Dis members!!! Be careful, you folks!!

I've been keeping a close watch on the fires in order to keep our Disneyland visitors informed. I have people who live close and Cast Members providing updates. The last update is other than dust from the winds, Disneyland is still smoke and ash free.

Of course, this can change at any time.

can you believe this i'm visiting relitives for a month out here and going to school ( due to slight problems back home nothing bad it would be nicer out here tho ) but now i'm stuck in school the ash is building up outside they are putting us on the buses slowly not city buses yellow buses in high school they bring them right up and are dropping us off right in front of our houses i have about 25 minutes till I leave gl everyone else stay safe. :grouphug:

My brother and his family are down in the big San Diego fire and were evacuated this morning and this isn't much hope for their house to survive but I am still praying that it might.. His in-laws and both sister in-laws have lost their houses already.. :(

Good luck, everyone affected in any way by those fires. I hope they don't get any closer to you than they already have. Stay safe!

One of my best friends lives in San Diego... im about to cry... we have been friends since 1st grade!!! I tried calling and no answer. Im getting so worried. does anyone know where the exact location of the fire is? I would greatly appreciate it!:guilty: :guilty: :sad2: :sad1:

I woke up at about 6:30 for school in San Diego and while i wait for the showe warms up i look out te open windows and notice its very windy outsit, and then my dad comes over with the home phone saying im not going to school for the next two days because of the fires. As for Disneyland: there are fires around the area but not too close for uncomfort.

:grouphug: I hope all of them and their pets all made it out safely.

There could be no answer for a lot of reasons, including that they left to go safely to another location away from the fires. I would not worry until you have reason to. Many many people in different areas of So. Cal. have left their houses today and are safe in another location, although they have had to make the very difficult step of leaving behind their house and belongings. Of course, getting out safely has to come first (no matter how much we all love our stuff!).

As for locations of the fires, most major TV networks have a map of the fires on their web sites.

well, it's relatively clear here, but the winds are HORRID!! The reason I said I would not want to be at Disney today is because of the terrible winds. There are trees down all over our neighborhood, branches and whole trees. I am so glad we don't have a big tree in our front yard. I am worried about my rose bushes out back. We already lost a small lemon tree. It was only a tiny one, not a mature one. We have a mature orange tree, and I worry about it. If it falls, it will fall straight into our pool and will be a mess to clean up. At least it's far enough from the house that it won't hit that!

I work for an elementary school and we just got word that there will be no school tomorrow! We live in the suburbs of L.A.

UPDATE: My city area is going to have to evacuate soon, so i better turn off my computer. Bye!

pixiedust: to all those close to the fires! My eyes have been stinging all day...

At least I'm far enough away not to worry about my house burning down, but the air quality is really, really bad.

Pixie dust and prayers to all the west coast people from the east coast!
