So I question. I have an HP laptop that supposedly the motherboard melted inside the computer. What brands of laptops do you think are good? Any suggestions?

Do NOT get a Dell laptop. They have extremely short life expectancies and just don't seem very well made.
Only get a Mac if you know how to use one already. Despite the commercials' claims, the OS is really not that user-friendly. But they hardly ever break and don't get viruses. Also consider the fact that a lot of software is not compatible with Macs. You will be out of luck trying to install any of the software you used with your HP.
Honestly, I'd say go with another HP. I currently have one and it works great. My parents have had an HP desktop that has worked great for about five years now. I'd say it's the most reliable Windows-based computer brand out there.
I've used a PC my entire life(I'm 24, been on a computer since 1989 when I was 4) and switched to the Mac OS last October. It took a very short period of time to "get it." You learn how to do things when you stop thinking like Windows and start thinking simpler. On top of that, Windows is just copying many features of the Mac OS anyway.Do NOT get a Dell laptop.
