Well my HP laptop just bit the dust. It is only 2 yrs old and the motherboard will need to be replace for around $400. I was going to get another but did not want to spend over $600-$700. My DH suggested the I wait and see if I want an iPad instead. I think he secretly wants the ipad ;) ;)

Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent laptop around that price range? I only use it for surfing the internet and charging/uploading my digital cameras and my itouch.

Thanks!!

If that's how you use it, the current iPad probably is not a good bet as it has no USB input for a camera and no memory card slots.

The iPad is not a substitute for a laptop or even really a netbook. While the actual use case won't be clear until the device is out the iPad is more then likely going to be more of a media consumption device and not a computer.

I have an Imac and generally like Apple products but you would be better off with laptop or netbook it would give you expaneded options that would not have with the Ipad.

Check Newegg for some good deals.

I'm wearing a shirt right now that says: I'm a PC. :goodvibes

I don't care for apple products, neither does DH, he's an IT guy... We don't even have ipods!

It sounds like you're a good candidate for a netbook. My boyfriend has the Asus Eee and it's really nice. And they have a pink one. :lovestruc
