Ok so I'm hopefully getting a laptop for my birthday which is in 12 days, and my parents have asked me to choose one. Does anyone have an idea of what a suitable laptop would be for a teenage girl, good for homework, gaming, msn/im, internet. anything along those lines. im not worried about the brand. i just need a decent laptop!
If you know any laptops, websites, links, please post them! i need help! im no good at this sort of thing!
Thankyouuuu! :D

Dell is a good make. I have a Dell it's brilliant. You can buy them online where you can design your own with all the software you want and what colour/pattern you want for the lid. Mine didn't come with word etc on it, but i brought the student version for under £40 for my uni work.

Ok! Thanks for the help! I've heard from a few other people that Dell is a good make. :)

I've just had as new Dell and it's very nice :)

Make sure you get plenty of RAM (at least 2Gb if not more - Vista likes memory!).

Also try and get a dual core processor - 2Ghz or above.

Hard disk size isn't that important because you can always archive off you photos and data to an external drive or DVD.

I work in an IT Dept and i usually purchase the Laptops for most people within my company.

Personally my preference would be Dell. Easy to use and fantastic customer service. Sony are also very good. Another alternative wuld be a MAC - you can get a great deal and a lot more for your money in terms of RAM. However it doesnt use the conventional windows systems that most PC's have.
Toshiba have some very good deals and some very good laptops but in my professional experience their customer service isnt as good as Dell or Sony.

Also if your thinking of playing the new sims game (you said you might use it for gaming) it's going to have to be a very fast machine.

Thanks for youree help guys. I've decided to go for a Dell Inspiron 1545 in red. :D
