I am considering lanyards for our upcoming cruise. Just looking for your thoughts. Do you use/like them or is it a waste of money??

Never use them, but a lot of people do. It's not a necessity... I just carry my key in my pocket, or a bag at the pool.

If you are a DVC member, you will get one.

Some people wear them all the time, but we are like Seven Wonkas. Rarely use them. I think we only used them on CC Day last trip.

We used them all the time and find them very convenient, especially when you don't need to pull them out anymore to open the door :)
How many do you need? I might have couple of extra lying around here :)

We definitely used ours the entire trip. I felt like someone was always asking for the key (photographers, bar tenders, waiters, front desk staff) plus going back and forth to our room, so it was super convenient to have it accessible. I never had pockets, so they worked out well.

I wear a lanyard most of the time onboard. I put it in my pocket when ashore.

DW doesn't like them so puts her key in a pocket or tote bag (she spends a lot of the time at the pool).

I bought some before our first cruise (got some as a silver CC member for the second cruise). They have cheap Disney themed ones at Hot Topic and Party City. DH was dubious but went along with me and was SOOOOOOO glad to have it.

Found some rather thin ones at Staples that we wear rather than the wider ones you get as Castaway Club member. Have found them to be most useful, particularly when your outfit doesn't have pockets , and much prefer that than having to wear a magic band type apparatus. Better to have your KTTW card with you just in case...

IMHO it is a personal preference. DS loves them. I can't stand them. I use my pocket or DH's pocket. DH is indifferent to them, but her prefers his pocket.

I loathe them. Don't wear them, even at cons where *everybody* seems to wear them.

I actually purchased a DCL lanyard on my first Disney Cruise when I didn't get one. I have continued to use the same lanyard I purchased 6 years ago for my subsequent 8 Disney Cruises because I like that it has a few pockets and is more durable than the one DCL issues you when you check in.

I can't stand them. I use a mini-crossbody purse so I have the camera, phone, KTTW card, chapstick, etc with me. Or i throw it in my beach bag. We got lanyards since we've cruised before and gave them to our friends who were first time cruisers. I just don't like having things around my neck.

My DH doesn't wear his, but me and the kids do. We have never bought them since we get them at check in...we are a bit obsessed with cruising. We always end up with a drawer full of them at the house (I just can't seem to get rid of them)

I use a ID case hooked to a carabineer instead. That way I can clip it to my pants if I'm not planning on taking my purse out of the room. Wearing an ID on a landyard reminds me of a. working and b. college freshmen who do not yet realize you are not obligated to keep your ID visible around your neck at all times.

We always wear ours and love them. For us, it's a conveinant way to keep up with the key to the world card. PLus we like to buy pins so we attach them to the lanyard

I wear one every day at work anyway for my security badge, so wearing one on the cruise is no problem for me. And on shore excursions I also put my driver's license in mine so I have the KTTW card and photo ID easily accessible for re-boarding. I finally get a gold one on my upcoming cruise, which is great because I've collected enough of the silver ones.

I got DVC ones for our first cruise which we used the entire trip. We are still members and are silver castaway members. Will we get new ones this cruise? Some of the plastic pockets have ripped.
