What has been everyone's experience with lanyards? Do you need to have it clear for both your ticket and express pass at all times, or just the express pass once you are in? Would a Vera Bradley lanyard work?

I am wanting to make sure it is closable so that items don't accidentally fall out, but not sure what others have found best.

TIA!

I use a (Disney theme!) Vera Bradley ID Case and it works fine for me, I keep my EP in the clear window and occasionally I have to adjust it for the CM with the reader.

I do have to take out my ticket but that's only once or twice a day so I don't mind that. I like that I can keep my ID and money etc in a zippered wallet and not carry an additional plastic pouch.

I use a retractable ID holder with a carabiner and keep the wallet in my pocket as I don't like anything around my neck. I find the VB lanyards to short and uncomfortable.

I like the lanyards they sell at the parks. They have a clear zippered pouch and I can put my express on one side and my ticket in the other side. Never have to touch a thing once it’s in there. You have to show express for every ride and tickets every time you switch parks.

I have an AP lanyard and I have my AP on one side and my resort key/EP on the other, with my ID, credit card and cash in between. I loop it through my belt loop and keep the pouch in my pocket so it is easy to retrieve and there is nothing around my neck.

this is very helpful! i figure the vera's are something i can use elsewhere but good to know they are short. never would have thought to just attach and throw in my pocket

do they have enough space to include my ID & CC or is it a tight fit?

I personally stopped using them after both my dd and my nephew had issues with them breaking. The hole that the lanyard attached to ripped in both cases and they lost the entire plastic zipper pouch. Luckily they were only carrying the Hotel Key and Park Pass inside so they were replaceable - after waiting in two separate lines.....

Going forward some of our party does still use the lanyard for convenience but I would never put anything of real value inside like an ID or cc'd. Again just my preference but if I am going to carry a separate wallet anyway I use one that also shows my EP.

FWIW, Universal will replace the plastic pouches if they've ripped. DH and I each have had to have ours replaces because the sides of the pouch were ripping. Never had issues with the hole at the top though. Were they getting pulled from getting caught on something perhaps?

Good to know - not sure if they got caught while riding something but it was 2 over a 7 day trip. I know most people have no issues because everyone uses them but I just can't trust them to anything other than the park pass and EP.

I typically don't do it often, but I feel the same way you do about it @tjmw2727. As someone who pats their pockets from time to time to make sure their wallet is still in their pocket, I'd worry too much to have my ID, or CC hanging around my neck. While I have confidence that a lanyard will stay around my neck anything can happen. While you can lose anything, because it happens, I'd rather just keep it in the pocket to be safe.

I guess I have been lucky, only had to replace the plastic, for free, when my Universal lanyard's split on the one side. I put my lanyard inside my shirt when I think it will fly around. Made my DD put her's inside her shirt too, as one time, got hit by it when we were riding Mummy.

I can put my ID and cc inside, with room key and AP showing on the side, so I only have to take out my AP when they have to scan it, like in a restaurant. Otherwise, I just take the lanyard off, to make it easier for the scanning person.

Have had it for years. And keep the room key and AP in there, even after coming home. In a few days, I'll toss the room key, for a new one.

I’ve had mine for years as well and never had a problem. I could see them being torn on a ride if they get caught on a lap bar or something but I always tuck mine in my shirt as well.

thank you EVERYONE for your tips! I have ordered a Vera Bradley ID holder but will use a retractable with a hook to keep it on my person. We will see how it goes that way.
