Lanyards in the Parks

I was wondering what people's thoughts were regarding using lanyards in the parks for photopass and IDs. If people like them...do you get them at the parks or before you go?

I loved them - even got them for the kids. As soon as we headed out of our resort, they grabbed them, and didn't take them off until we got back, and they were put in a designated spot. Photopass, park tickets, fastpasses, ID's for kids, gc's... Bought WDW ones on ebay for less than $5 each (plus random pins for trading).

I loved it. I bought a thin cord-like lanyard and plastic ID holders at WalMart before we went. I think the lanyard was a couple bucks and the plastic pouches were just a couple bucks too. I didn't want one of the thick lanyards like you use for pin trading because I was afraid it would feel too hot on my neck. I used it to hold our KTTW cards and fastpasses. I had charging privileges on my KTTW card so I didn't bother putting a credit card or money in there. I had a separate wallet in my backpack for the few places where you can't charge to your KTTW card. The lanyard was super convenient for evening EMHs. I just had to hold up the plastic pouch on my lanyard for the CM to check my KTTW card.

Thank you for posting this.

I was planning on using the lanyards for our keys as well this year. I suppose I will need the thick lanyard - my son loves the pin trading - I have to admit that I think it is fun too.

We just got back from our first trip to Disney and my kids had lanyards and pins for pin trading but I didn't think to get myself one for the Key to the World cards. Oh, boy we wouldn't ever go without them again. I had to keep digging mine out of my back pack. It was especially a pain during EMH when we had to show them at every ride!!!

We don't use bags or purses, I use a lanyard (tinkerbell!) with my credit card, id, room keys and tickets in it, and DH wears cargo shorts that hold the phone, camera, and water bottles.

I loooove my lanyard. It usually has 1 or 2 pins on it that I just couldn't resist on that trip-they go in the shadowbox once they get home as another happy memory (pins get heavy around your neck on the lanyard).

I hate wearing a lanyard! It rubs on my neck.
I make my DH wear one and we all put our KTTWC in his lanyard! He doesn't seem to have a preference.
We also just put the cards in his pocket too. Less chance of them snagging or getting left behind somewhere.

Just found some really nice ones at Michaels on Friday. I was able to get Belle, Little Mermaid and Cinderella for only a dollar each. They are made really nice, and my girls love them.

We have just the lanyard without anything hanging on it. Do they sell just the pouch at the resorts?

Someone posted about getting the plastic holders at Walmart.

Where in Walmart would we find them? I was also thinking about buying one, I saw some at the $1 store.

I love my lanyard to hold GAC, KTTW, Photopass card but after a bit I don't like it on my neck because of the weight. I have many pins. So I put it in my bagallini for most of the day.

Pin trading is fun and having the photopass so they can just scan through the plastic is a easy. I use a heavy duty plastic pouch made by Hydropak that is waterproof and durable.

I was the one who posted that I bought the plastic holders at Walmart. What I bought were very basic plastic ID badge type holders. They didn't have zippered pouches or anything. Just a plastic sleeve slightly larger than the size of a credit card that you could slip your KTTW card into. They came in a pack of 10 and I think I spent about $2 on them. They were in the office supply section.

usually by mens socks, underwear area.

I just want to mention that the lanyards for KIDS should Really be the kind that have the breakaway.
They are great for adults, but kids.......it can be scary with the cheapo ones....
With kids getting on and off rides and all it is especially important to be sure it cannot CHOKE them, get caught on things or worse.
Personally, we limit the lanyard for kids here..... we found them to be too heavy especially with pins, THEN on and off they'd go, lost pin, then we got locking backs (great).
So, WHEN the lanyard is on its usually a time that we're mostly walking and shopping versus going on rides..........

I'm not into pin trading and neither is my niece. I just thought it would be handy during EMH. I could put the lanyard on and put our KTTW cards in them and save a few minutes.

I just bought both my DD's lanyards at Walmart for our upcoming trip, one got Hannah Montana and one got High School Musical. I was thinking it was a good idea to hang their disposable camera's from, except...there is no place on the camera to clip the lanyard on. SO....not sure what we will do with them now. :rotfl:

We're at WDW now and we all LOVE our coin pouch lanyards. The pouch is perfect for ccs, $, and ins cards, and the clear plastic outside is perfect for tix and FPs.

I have not seen any of the coin purse style lanyards in shops here; only the ones with just a hook at the bottom. Ours are all Disney, but I got them on eBay for $4 + shipping.

Makes sense, we use the lanyards at Universal for the Express Passes when we get them.

I agree, the lanyards they sell in the parks are great but the holders at the bottom are junk; I found mine at a craft store and then added a few extra hooks and reinforcements on it (check the jewelry craft aisle, there are some very pretty ideas), just to make sure it's not going anywhere!

We also carry tiny hand sanitizers on our lanyards that I refill at the end of each day. Done the puke dance at Disney enough to believe in hand sanitizer!
