Lanyards and pins please explain

I have bought pins off ebay on 3 occasions and had GREAT experience with it...jut read their feedback. These pins are great to start with...they give you some to trade and even some to keep...some of our fav pins came out of an ebay lot of 15 pins for $9.00. You can get lanyards at WDW but I have seen some at Micheals craft stores too. I think they were High School Musical and Hahhah Montanna. It is great for kids age 6 and up I think. We let our 6 yr old trade but she has to let a parent help her so she does not get excited and trade a $10 pin..lol...overall thought...it has been a fun experience for DH (age 45) , DS age 12 and DD age 6

Its funny my DS just does It one way!,buys them:rotfl2:. everytime he Is approached about his pins you would think they where asking for part of his body:rotfl2:. Oh he's funny about his pins he has two lanyards full and yes they are a bit pricey but better then naveing a t shirt collection Imagin the luggage Issues we would have!:rotfl2:

He sounds like me! I don't even take my pins off the cardboard!

My DS a few years ago bought a special limeted edition pin from EE In AK. Well through the day part of It broke off, there was a hanging peice and part of it some how broke off. My son was freaking out(ok not really but in the world of pins he was:rotfl2:),well we went back and the CM there try to fix it,could not but then the manager came out and just said to give him another one:cool1: and they let him keep the old one on top of that! That was awsome!.

Ok..so maybe I am a total airhead, but I have seen pics of people wearing lanyards with what looks like maybe a park ticket or something hanging on it and not even pins. What is that all about? :confused3 The last time I was at WDW I was only about 5 years old so all of this is new to me!

Some lanyards are for more than just holding pins. We bought ones with pouches that will hold our tickets/fastpasses/gift&credit cards. You need your tickets handy for the fast passes, so it is an easy way to keep them handy.

I bought lanyards this week at Michael's craft store for $1. They had 4 Disney designs: Princesses, Fairies, Toy Story, and Cars. There is no pouch on them but they do have the clip so it would be easy to attach something. They were in the dollar bins at my local Michael's.

my girls love pin trading...can't wait for our sept trip! Gotta get on ebay to get some cheaper ones to trade.

A hint about the "pouch" - get one that can close! I bought plastic slip-in pouches and once my PhotoPass and KTTW fell OUT and got lost. The pouch is a great idea, but make sure it shuts!

Looks like all the rules have been discussed so i will just say that when we went in 2008 with my 3 and 6 year olds pin trading became a very unexpected but huge part of our trip! My 6 yo old boy especially and he was very shy then, but did this all on his own and LOVED it! The 3 yo girl needed help but loved it too. Yes, it was a little pricey, but worth every penny b/c they have an amazing lanyard full of memories and pin trading was probably second on the list to rides. We are going again in 64 days and the kids are getting new lanyards and i love the idea of getting "cheap" pins on ebay to use as trades instead of the expensive ones we traded last time. I am going to do that! Oh and my kids traded with both CMs and other guests. They loved when another guest asked to see their lanyards and all adults were very nice and let my kids choose first. Do it!

We purchased pins from Ebay for about $1.15 each. Some of the pins we got were possible scrappers (fakes) but the majority of them were authentic and all of them were tradeable. I took about 120 pins for myself, my ds8, dd5 and my cousin's ds9 to trade (her ds5, dd4 and dd2 were not interested). We went through all of the pins and I was really surprised how into the trading my kids got. The CM's have to trade any pin offered as long as it is a Disney pin and they do not already have it - there are CM's wearing special teal lanyards that only trade with children. We did not trade with other guests in the parks. Be prepared to stop at every CM in the parks and resorts to look at their pins - it does end up taking up some time but we traded character autographs for pin trading this trip. Here are my kids trading with a CM at World Showcase.

My girls had great fun pin trading. I didn't get any for the 3 year old because I didn't think she'd get into it but she really did. I ended up having to pick up a lanyard for her and give her some of her sister's pins. She loved looking for and trading the "cutie" pins (baby Minnie, baby stitch etc). My 5 year old was on a mission to get a complete set of baby princesses. She managed to get 3/6.

I bought them on ebay and they were fine. The only fake looking pin DD got she actually received in a trade with an MK security person!

I would not know a fake pin from a real pin, but I bought some off e bay for 1.15 a piece. They all have stuff on the back of them. My sister loved them and said she would keep them all. I have about 15 to trade.

We will be at wdw in mid-May...at first our DD's didn't seem too interested in the pin trading but we ordered off ebay anyway.

The pins have arrived, doesn't seem to be a scrapper in the lot after consulting with pinpics.

Now the DD's are practicing almost daily on the best way to approach CM's and guests...they're talking about this more than visiting Mickey!
