Landrys in trouble?

yeah well that's what they get for outsourcing everything!

Exactly!!!

This is just microcosm of what's happening to the country and with Disney they will get what they deserve. Of course they'll probably just let McDonald's in to run these joints if they go bellyup.:scared1:

Yahoo Finance has an article up this morning on companies that may not survive 2009: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/15-Companies-That-Might-Not-usnews-14279875.html

Half-way down the list, you'll find Landrys, owner/operator of Rain Forest Cafe, T-Rex, Yak & Yeti, and some off-property restaurants. If this happens, would have a real effect on WDW.

Actually reading the article it doesn't sound like Landry's is in as much trouble as most of the others on the list. Overall it sounds like they will survive but just have a couple of bumps to get over. Even if they end up closing some locations I've got to believe that the ones at WDW will survive quite nicely.

Far more interesting was this entry in the article..

Six Flags. (SIX; about 30,000 employees; stock down 84%). This theme-park operator has been losing money for several years, and selling off properties to try to pay down debt and get back into the black. But the ride may end prematurely. Moody's expects cash flow to be negative in 2009, and if consumers aren't spending during the peak summer season, that could imperil the company's ability to pay debts coming due later this year and in 2010.

Things don't look too good for Dollar/Thrifty, either. Chrysler, we knew about.

By the end of the year, we may all be shopping at Walmart, eating out at McD's and listening to FM or CDs - for lack of much else. Blech.

I'll miss Krispy Kremes. Sbarro's, so not much.

The article is very similar to one at another site I read a few weeks ago with the same subject - except that the companies didn't read as being all that bad off and likely to go down the toilet like the headline suggested. FUD.

Ironically I heard on the radio that McCheese's revenues were up 7% despite the recession, and they likened it to being a cartoon character - run right off a cliff and stay in the air, as long as they don't look down...

:( You're not kidding, they r my employer :-O

Come on people, go to your local six flags so I can keep going to DISNEY!

Of course, we love Six Flags too and go there twice a week.

IMHO, Six Flags had improved dramatically under Shapiro's leadership over the past few years, but it can't possibly make up for the horrible deterioration of the SF parks in the 15 years prior. They grew too big, and were too slow to respond to guest needs. My family has had absoloutly horrible experiences at SF parks.....so bad you have to wonder why anyone would every go back. It's a great example of how poor product eventually leads to poor business, and how you cannot improve your profits by cutting costs alone.

am sure that the RFC`s and the new Dino one at disney are franshed?as long as thes parts are making money they wouldent go down the pan
Then again met the owner in MCO and what a loud mouth, would like it to go under, but carnt see it
Paulh

The RFC close to us closed quite suddenly last month, I believe. The kids are still bummed! Unfortunately I'm not so shocked at anything that closes in this economy.

Unfortunately, Six Flags doesn't follows Disney's design ideas and make Roller coasters that seat pooh sized people.
