We're headed to WDW in Sept. and right now it's much cheaper for my kids and I to fly down to MCO the night prior. I was thinking of just staying at the Hyatt at the airport that night - we won't get in til late and we have extended family flying in the next morning. My issue is our luggage. I know that for arrivals after 10pm Disney asks guests to retrieve their own luggage. -Is there anyway around this or any other options anyone can think of? We won't need our luggage until we get to our resort the next day, but trying to lug all of our luggage around the airport and then onto the ME the next morning with 3 kids seems a little overwhelming. TIA!

We were able to get really cheap flights for our December trip by flying in very late a day early, so we're staying at the Hyatt that night. Unfortunately, you do have to get your own luggage and get it on the ME. For us, we would have skipped the luggage part of DME anyway (two horrible experiences the last two trips have turned us off to that part of the service), so it's no biggie. For you'd just hire a porter to help you get your luggage from the hotel to DME, and then bell services will store your luggage for you until your room is ready.:thumbsup2

Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 9:45 so I called to ask how we would know what the "official" time is in case we are delayed. I asked if we didn't get our bags if they would just be brought the next day and was told no -- we would have to go back through the airline as unclaimed luggage and make our own arrangements to get them. :(

Bell Services at the Hyatt should be able to take your luggage from you in the morning and get it transported to the DME luggage sorting facility.

There is just no need to struggle and lug luggage. Increase your budget by about $20-40 (dependent on your generosity, number of bags, and how many times you will have someone help you) and have others lug it for you. Hire a porter there at the baggage carousel and they will help you to the hotel area. You might need a hotel porter to help get it to the room, but if you just store it then just do that. The next day, have people help you get the bags to DME. So easy. Just takes a few bucks. (general rule is $1-2 bucks per bag...we tend to go higher for the heavy bags and maybe a bit lower than even that for teensy bags, or we just carry those ourselves)

Hate to steer this thread off slightly but would you mind giving me a "ball-parK" figure as to what you're paying to stay at the Hyatt? We are also arriving around midnight and refuse to pay WDW prices for a short sleep!!

Our room rate is $179, which was far less than the airfare difference we would have paid for four people to fly at a more ideal time the following day, and this will give us at least an extra half day in the parks. :cool1:

thanks, now just to convince the hubby to stay there instead of one of the other airport hotels. Been reading reviews and most give bad reports regarding shuttle service and that would be a deal breaker for me! When i'm awake i want to get back to MCO PRONTO to catch ME and start our holiday!!

Just be aware that you might not get that rate. Best to check for your dates before continuing. I've NEVER seen a rate that low for our dates.

Of course, it's highly dependent on what resort you're staying at while at WDW and how much you are paying. If you're staying at a $500 night resort, paying $250 for the in-airport Hyatt is great. If you're paying $119 per night, however...not as great.

And there is a definite bonus to waking up where you'll be staying, to NOT having to move yourself and your stuff. Never feels worth it before your stay, but that morning when you are at YOUR hotel? That's when it feels worth it to just pay Disney prices. (caveat being that $500/night hotel)
