They cleared a decent amount of land where the monorail makes its turn to get to EPCOT. I saw a picture posted on Instagram yesterday. Anyone know what is happening there?

I believe at least part of that is just additional retention ponds.

If you are talking about near the solar panels, yes that is water retention areas.

I think it’s a combination of things in the area.

No. It is partially related to the Guardians ride and partially in preparation for a hotel that was planned to be built in that area, which is probably not happening anymore. This is basically part of a total reworking of the drainage plan for the front half of the park.

Probably money. The Epcot project is quite large and several things are in motion. It’s dead for now but could always be revived down the line.
