Lamplight Brunch or GCH Grill Lunch?

Don't go to Lamplight with a kid if they don't like the sides. Absolutely NO accommodation was offered. I feel if you are going to have special meals for adults you should have more to offer kids. My daughter doesn't like hummus or fruit because she has texture issues. She will probably grow out of them as her palate becomes more sophisticated but is it too much trouble to have an option of fries with a burger? The inflexibility with no other option offered left a very bitter taste in our mouths and we had to waste a ton of our park time on bad customer service. My husband and I had a delicious meal but my daughters meal sucked.
When did you eat there? We went in June and I ordered a side of fries to go with my son's slider. He actually likes the hummus but the kids meals are pretty small and fries are a special treat for him. I think the fries were like $5? It was a good amount.

We were there at the end of July. The lead was unhelpful, didn't offer any options, was curt to say the least. I would say she was something else but this is a Disney forum.

I agree with you! Our son, who is 23 now, as a child struggled with kids menus at Disney, too. He was an adventurous eater and Disney seems to think kids ought to be limited to chicken nuggets, burgers, mini corn dogs and fries at even their nicer restaurants! We would in turn be forced to order him an appetizer he was interested in or order larger meals for ourselves so he could enjoy, too but he always felt a bit left out because, even as an 8-10 year old, he felt like he was being fed off Mom and Dad's plates like a baby because the cost of ordering him a full on adult plate was crazy. Amazing how Disney is supposed to be geared toward the kiddos and they don't think a lot of this stuff through for feeding them-kids aren't like adults when it comes to making choices on menus. Some, like your daughter will prefer fries and others like our son, will not.

I know what you mean, my daughter is adventurous when she wants to be but has some texture issues. Her favorite cheese is brie, she loves spinach and cucumbers and tolerates broccoli. She only likes apples right now when it comes to fruit, doesn't like anything chunky or with seeds. I make her try things at home but I won't force her because I want her to be a food lover like us when she gets older. Things have gotten worse since the pandemic because there are so few things in her life where she feels a sense of control and now she sometimes is saying she doesn't like things that used to be her favorites. I just remind myself, this too shall pass.

We loved the chiliquiles at LL. The best I ever had. The chips aren't soggy like more restaurants and the green sauce on top I'd to die for. My daughter asked for a side of it to dip her potato flautas in. We made reservations for our upcoming stay as well. Also the mimosa flight was also quite delicious.

I often forget things like foods with kiddos during the pandemic! I am so sorry that she has to deal with this. I know that what we did when ours was young was get plates we knew we would all like and things we knew he may like, but didn't present them that way. Then we would ask for some smaller empty plates and we kind of served our ownselves "Family style". It is what my parents did with us as kids only back in the 70's they didn't ask for smaller plates. ha! With our son, we just made it look like we weren't that hungry and wanted to pick at our food but wanted to try a bunch of different things. As a result, he tried new stuff on his own because it was there and being offered as what was avail. NOW he is way more adventurous than I ever dreamed of being. So it works for some kids and not for others, I will tell you. LOL! (I am SUPER picky about textures...anything soft and creamy if there isn't a cracker or a chip to put with it gags me! I know! I Know! He is a major foodie though and loves food now at 23 and loves to cook, etc. Pandemic brought out the bread head in him. He learned how to make sourdough and was making bread 3xs a week...as my backside was growing ever larger. :rotfl2: I hope Disney gets some notion in their head that not all kids are conducive to the same meals. They offer adults 20 choices, kids should at least get half that since it is "their" land/world we are going into. ;)

I think Nonin was saying sub the fries for the hummus and they declined that. You were able to order an additional side of them, which I am sure was offered to Nonin for a fee? Not sure. P.S., Side bar Comment: Your little pooh bear is wayyyyyy cute with his mini meal! pooh: Thanks for sharing his pic!

I love the LampLight! It’s my favorite table service restaurant in either park. Can’t beat the lobster nachos and that beautiful view!
