Laminating question

Last year I went all out and created mini itinerary/autograph books for me, my sister and my mom. They had everything spelled out - what time lunch was, etc.
This year I decided I would make a business card for each day that had all the neccessary info on it (what time the 3:00 parade is, when our ADRs are, etc).
I would like to laminate a set of the cards for me, my sister and my best friend.
I did not want to buy a laminater for just a few things, but I found laminating sheets at Target the other night.

They are GBC HeatSeal thermal letter-size laminating pouches.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
I am assuming that a laminating machine basically heats and flattens - so I'm going to try and use an iron, but don't want to make a huge mess.

Any tips?

Can you get stuff laminated at Kinkos?

I think you can get things laminated at Kinkos or other similar shops. Also at teaching supply stores. Sounds like a great idea, compact and easy to carry!

have you already purchased them? If not, I'd get the laminating sheets that don't require heat! edit: I may have given you bad advice, I think they require a machine as well sorry

go to Kinko's they have everything you need and it's not that expensive.

I used the laminating sheets that don't require heat last year for the cover of my autograph books. I don't know why I didn't think of using them. I already bought the kind that require heat. If it doesn't work, I guess I'll go to kinko's.

Use clear packaging tape to laminate these items

I've had good luck laminating things for Disney using a roll of clear contact paper. It's inexpensive and goes a long way, plus it's easy to use!

I'm not sure how well they work since my trip isn't until november and I haven't been able to use them yet, but I found self-sealing laminating pouches for business cards/i.d cards by Scotch at Kmart. They come in different sizes and I think I paid about 3.50 for a pack of 10. It says no machine/heating needed.

I have bought the no heat laminating sheets at Walmart. They work fine. I often buy that type to laminate photos (so they last longer kicking around in my wallet).

I just typed up our ADRs (restaurant, date, time and confirmeation#), made 2 copies and placed them in ID holders (that attach to lanyard clippy things)...one for me and one for hubby. So, at east one of us should be able to know where we are supposed to be and when!

I tried it last night with the iron - it worked great!
I love my cards! They're all shiny and cute!

I tried the same thing last year (using the laminating sheets). They work pretty well - they're not quite the same as the "hard" laminating machines, but it works pretty darn well.

(One tip: make sure they're business-card or credit-card sized, so you can put them in a wallet easily. In addition to the ones with our ADRs, etc., I made one with our cell phone numbers, the phone number of the town car company, etc. I was soooooo glad to have the town car company's number handy last October, because we got stuck in our plane on the runway at Orlando airport during a thunderstorm last year! We were sitting on the runway, just a few feet from the gate, for over 45 minutes -- they couldn't let the baggage handlers out onto the tarmac because it wasn't safe during the thunderstorm. I was so glad I had a cell phone and the town car company's phone number!!!!!)

they work terrific, I used them on the MHPC...Mickey Head Paint Chips "borrowed" from Home Depot last month

I bought a cheap laminating machine 20 bucks from Biglots. It came with several laminating sheets too.
