Lakes?

My husband has a RC speedboat he wants to bring to the fort with us. Would he be allowed to use this in any of the lakes or canals around the fort? It's electric, not gas powered. Thanks.

Are we certain that a remote control boat would be classified as a personal watercraft? After all, your person is not actually on the craft. It is more akin to a child's toy. I'm thinking they still would not allow it, but might be worth a call to the Fort. Just my thought!

yea i can't see how an rc boat under any definition is a personal watercraft. i''m sure they allow rc cars, but op there is an issue. they do have a blanket rule of, to quote pete, owner of the dis, "stay out of the dam lakes". so if there was an issue he would be chased out of any body of water if he had to go in to retrieve it.

also if you call the fort you most likely get a call center and i'm pretty sure they will not know the answer and just say no.

Actually, I don't really think they would allow it as a safety issue. There are usually children playing in the sand along the edges of the lake, plus they have the rental boats that could get in the way causing a liability issue. If they would allow one thing (seemingly innocuous) it could lead to another. But to be sure, just call and ask.

Also, like a pp said, if it would get disabled, someone would have to go into the water and retrieve it (this happened to my dh before, when he used to have RC boats).

I believe I saw an RC boat in the Meadows Lake several years ago, but I can't be sure (aging brain). And I agree that there would be a problem if retrieval became necessary. Of course they could always rent you a canoe to go after it. And I would be more sure that putting in Bay Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon would not be permitted.
