We're leaving on Friday from Chicago....were planning on driving thru Indiana on I-65, but if lake effect snow is predicted an impacts the drive, maybe we'll go thru Illinois....does anyone know whether it would impact the drive from Chicago?

Hello, I live 1 hr south of indianapolis, in columbus. Our weather report for the week is just saying a chance of flurries. The road crews down here on 65 are great. Hope this will help. I would hate to have to drive all the way around Illinois, i know how long it takes to get to wdw!! Hope you have a great trip!! we are now in the single digit dance and i cant wait!!

Hi....

I live just north of Indy and the forcast is just for a chance of flurries, but they are saying the further north you are the more snow you may get. I would keep an eye on the forcast the closer you get to your trip for more accurrate information.

If you do a search on driving to WDW from Chicago, you'll find that most people prefer taking #57 down Illinois instead of #65. Besides missing the mess around 80/94, you also miss the traffic in Indy. And this is when there is no lake effect snow.

Last year the night before Thanksgiving, our son was stuck in lake effect snow driving from South Bend to the Western burbs. He was never on 65 but drove on the In Tollway to 80/94 etc.. I forget now exactly how bad it was but it took him 6 or 7 hours to drive what should have been a 2 plus hour drive. :earseek:

If you take the Skyway, I would think you would have the same issues.
