I have reservations at both of these hotels for Dec. While we have stayed at the Residence Inn (twice), we have a better rate at Hawthorne. Has anyone stayed at Hawthorne and if so, what was your experience?

We are particularly interested in quiet rooms. I know the RI is quiet, what about Hawthorne Suites?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have stay the Hawthorne SSuites on Canada Avenue and I love it. The place was clean and have a excellent free breakfeast. Had easy access to WDW ande US.

We just returned from the Hawthorn Suites on Palm Parkway earlier this week. It's located very close to DTD. The room was very nice. It was clean and quiet with pretty views of the pool/courtyard area. The downside....there were tiny ants on the kitchen counter the entire time we were there, the beds were hard and the breakfast was severely lacking. The counters weren't covered in ants but we could always find several when we checked for them (they were really tiny). We handled the situation by keeping our food on the table instead of the counter. I had put everything in glad containers before we left home so this arrangement worked out well. The breakfast buffet didn't offer much and the offerings didn't really change. It alternated between plain scrambled eggs or omelettes (with cheese and peppers...one day it was just cheese and no peppers:confused3 ), english muffins or plain bagels, link sausage or patty. The sausage was yucky. Soggy like the fake stuff. The tater tots were just ok (not very crispy). There were never any muffins but small pastries (danish) instead (cheese, berry and/or cinnamon I think). You had a choice of cranberry, orange or apple juice, water, coffee or milk. There was fruit cocktail in a big bowl but we never got any of it. It didn't look very good. There were plenty of condiments in little packets....even mayo. There was a microwave, toaster and bread for toasting. The food just wasn't very good. I ended up having a few tater tots and a couple of cheese danishes or bagel with cream cheese each morning. The omelettes with peppers were just eh. Without peppers they were yuck. I never tried the scrambled eggs. For what it's worth, I would stay here again. The location is great with restaurants close by. I liked having the free wireless internet too. For the price we paid, I can overlook a few ants and can look forward to my soft bed when I return home. I shouldn't have to but I will. Hope this helps in making your decision.

I've only stayed at the Residence Inn, as well as most of the other Marriott properties in the area (Springhill Suites, 2 Courtyards, Fairfeld Inn). Unless the price difference is huge and will impact your vacation, I'd stick with the Res. Inn or Marriott in general. All of our experiences have always been excellent.
