It was a "concept vid movie" so eh, whatever. My kids listen to alternative rock so I think Lady Ga Ga is pretty tame compared to that stuff.

pop music in and of itself is not just for kids/youth. it is "popular music" not just kids artists(though there are a lot of what I refer to as kid music..jonas bothers, miley cyrus, metro station..etc that make pop music) ...in theory it is supposed to be the music that could be enjoyed by just about anyone. There are MANY artists that make "pop" music that are not necessarily kid friendly. That's like saying rap music is only for the black community, so why would a white person make rap music? It just seems like a backward way of thinking about the genre...a genre which encompasses many different kinds of artists which cater to different groups of people, but whose music still falls into the "pop" category.

"Not just" isn't exclusionary. It was an observation. You think it's a backward way of thinking about the genre, I think you are diluting the fact that kids do see the casual murder as part of entertainment.

This kind of "publicity" is what gets her millions, possibly BILLIONS of fans and money. The more "moms" don't like it, the more kids DO. I remember that as far back as the 50s.

Promos show crap on violent shows all the time. Even if you don't watch a show you know what's happening on it by the promos (that's if you don't get your remote fast enough! )

You absolutely have excellent points. I'm a freak of nature, a wide open minded old woman!! My son is very conservative minded Touch by an Angel, gospel music fiend. He'd rather die than listen to Lady Gaga. I guess that's why I'm USED to this debate!!

same here: I saw her on the Today Show with Cindy Lauper and she is different than her persona/s. I liked her better after I saw that. I think she is just really serious about being sort of a performance artist, .....ie., her costumes, personas, etc.

I think her music is catchy, but don't care about the stuff that I don't want my DD12 to hear/understand. Don't care how outlandish she is, just wish she wouldn't push the envelope in that one area, I guess. JMHO, of course.

I agree, I think she is really into fashion and acting, she's an artist and she is expressing her talents.

She is actually VERY talented. Plays piano, writes her own stuff, writes for others (Adam Lambert collaborated Fever with her, its a really hot song). I believe she got into Julliard as well.

I like Lady Gaga. I've always taken her as playing a character that is mocking decadent celebrity culture that is completely out of touch with reality. The thing I find funniest is that she actually influences people with her fashion which makes what she's doing even better. Anyone that can do an interview dressed in Kermit the Frogs while keeping a straight face amuses me.

My son grew up in the South and has the values I want him to have, but I didn't have that upbringing. In the only interview I saw ( or maybe I read it) Lady GaGa referred to herself as a "performance artist" as well as singer/musician...she did not place one area higher than the other. She is quite unique and certainlycreative. She has the guts to follow through on ieas she has which is why she is successful, that and yeah, she can sing/play the piano like crazy.

Lady Gaga she has actually grown on me. for the fact that she is talented, but she knows how to get the attention because either way she is getting talked about like the 2 previous mentioned above. Now, if she lasts like Madonna, we all know at age 40 or whatever, she will have calmed down, it won't look cute for her to ride in the wagon.
