We were engaged twice and the first ring was a token ring--we broke our engagement but were still together--after many months...I started wearing the ring again. So when we engaged for real--he got me a platinum ring with heart shape diamond. It was lost 4 weeks before the wedding. So he got me a white gold engagement ring.

My original set was made out of gold. But, I developed an allergy to the gold (my doctor thought it was the nickel in gold), and couldn't wear it without getting a horrible rash under my rings.

Unfortunately for me we had to have my diamonds reset into platinum. I haven't had a problem since.

My original rings were 18k yellow gold. The engagement ring was my great-great-aunt's and is very old. I had it sized down & was told I couldn't get it re-sized. Unfortunately, I could probably wear it as it was originally now. The design of the wedding band was such that I couldn't get that re-sized either.

So for our 25th DH got me a new set. While I could wear the diamond separately, the band is a wrap & wouldn't work alone. The band is yellow gold & the diamond is set in white gold - so I answered "other."

DS is also "other." He has a titanium ring. I was sceptical, but it's really neat. (He teaches TKD & wanted something that wouldn't get bent when he was breaking boards.)

I wear a white gold anniversary band with diamonds set in the top half. I haven't worn my engagement ring since we got back from our honeymoon. I was always getting it caught on things since the diamond was in a high setting. You'd think I'd have gotten used to it, since we were engaged for almost 4 years, but I never did. This ring looks much simpler and is easier to wear.

My engagement ring is 18K gold with a platinum prong setting for the stone. My wedding band is 18K gold with platinum chanel setting holding five diamonds in place across the top... kinda hard to describe...
