Ladies: Question for any of you that have been pregnant and/or had a D&C...

Go get a second opinion, just to ease your mind.

congratulations :)

I had 2 ultrasounds in June because I had been having some discomfort.

They found a "thick" spot on my uterus. I had another vg ultrasound after my cycle and the thick spot was still there.

I was scheduled for a hysteroscopy and D&C. The thick area turned out to be a benign polyp. My Dr. said they are very commom. Had the surgery June 21. The pathology report indicated I was at Day 17. Got my period on day 28. It was normal.

Found out last night that I am pregnant.

I was told that the thickening they saw could be perfectly normal and would go away with a period. I would not worry too much.

Call your Dr. and find out if there is any way they can find out what it is without harming the baby.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Wow! What an ordeal you are going through. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that things go well.

I AM FLOORED! And my question is - If I am only 4 weeks along then I would have had to got pregnant around the 1st of July. I hadn't had a cycle since May and my uterus was very thick on June 25th so something MUST have been wrong before I was ever pregnant - right??

I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly from going through this stuff, dont they count 2 weeks before you actually conceive as "time pregnant". Like the egg gets released when your cycle starts, then 2 weeks later when its fertilized, you would already be considered 2 weeks pregnant. If that is the case(which agian, I may be totally wrong, but I think thats what I remember), you would have only conceived in mid July, not early July.

CamColt,

You are correct. I just found out last night that I am pregnant.

Scheduled my first Dr. appt and she stated over the phone that I was already considered 4 weeks pregnant.

HauntedMansionFreak,

One thing I found helpful was the pregnancy calendar section on ivillage.com

It can really help you calculate things.

Congrats Floridafam!! Looks like we are gonna be due about the same time!...lol

If this is true - then I can see me being pregnant. My last blood/urine tests (before the day of the surgery) was July 15th.

That would in fact make me even more concerned as to why my uterus was so thick on the June 25th ultrasound. If it makes any difference - when they did the ultrasounds, they didn't just say that the lining was "thick" they said it was "dangerously thick". This is prior to me being pregnant, according to the doc.

I have always wondered if something was wrong because my cycles were always so heavy that I pretty much had to stay home. I mean they were BAD. Have been this way for about 2 years now. I never went and had it checked out because I just figured I was doomed to have heavy periods. Maybe that plays a part in this - maybe not.

I have another ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday. They are going to see if they see a baby. I'll let you all know what I find out. I certainly appreciate all your comments. Even though I can talk with DH about this - he hasn't and never will go through this.

I am definitely going to bring up the tubal thing and see what he says.

HMF,

My cycles were the same way, pretty much for the last 2 years. That is why I went in for the transvag ultrasound.

They then found the thick spot and said I had to have the hysteroscopy and D&C. The Dr. said immediately that she thought it was just a polyp and it turned out to be just that.

I'm sure everything is fine.

Let us know how your ultrasound goes.

I agree that the tests are not perfect and I disagree with the way they calculate out weeks of pregnancy. My first daugher, according to my calculations, came right on time but the doctors said she was almost a month late and they wanted to take her by c-section. By the time they decided there must be something wrong, she came along by herself ~ all 8 pounds 10 ounces of her! I can see why you would be confused but don't dwell on the confusion too much and enjoy your pregnancy! CONGRATULATIONS!!
