Ladies....question about "The Pill"

For those of you who have or are on the Pill have you ever had a month that you didn't have a cycle? I don't mean intentionally skipping, but just going along and taking your pills as usual, but not having your period.

Nope, not in the 10 years I've been on it.

Since the pill isn't 100%, if you've had sex, I'd get a pregnancy test done, just to be sure.

I never get my period on the pill or any other birth control, like Depo-Provera.

when on the pill, i barely have periods at all. I'm on the patch now and have them, am thinking about switching back.

Since having DD and going on microgestin, I rarely have a period. Maybe once in 6 months do I have anything I have to do anything about. I see my doc every year and he says it is fine. If it is unusual for you and happens a second month, I would probably take a pg test, but otherwise I wouldn't worry.

For me it varied based on the brand. When I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen, it was there and regular, just very light & short. With the Yasmin, it's not unusual for me to skip a month or two or just to spot a bit.

Nope. Been on the pill since 1999 and have never had this problem.

I was on the pill from when I was 15 until 35. For the last 5 years I barely had a period at all. Unfortunately I also noticed a lot of mood changes and other issues, all of which disappeared when I stopped taking the pill (and my periods came back).

Yep sure have .... and those 2 boys in the picture below, came about 9 months after that missed period.

Pill doesnt work for me.

I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 12 years and I always had a period, no matter how light. I'd take a test just to be sure!

Yes, on a different pill than I'm taking now I skipped two periods. I was not pregnant, so I talked to my doc and she put me on a different brand. No skipped periods since.

Take a pregnancy test to make sure, and call your doctor.

This is fairly common....sometimes the hormones in the pill will thin out the endometrial lining so much that there is not alot there to slough off and come out The chance of this happening is higher for folks who have been on the pill for a while, also for users of certain brands notorious for this such as LoEstrin and Estrostep. What brand are you on?

If this is the first time this has happened to you, I would do a test.
When in doubt, check it out!

Well in grade 8 (which was just last year) a school nurse came in to talk to us about the "pill" and the patch. I can't remember exactly what she said though.

Ah, that's it! I couldn't remember the name. I was taking Estrostep when I missed those two periods.

Anyway, yeah, missing a period doesn't automatically mean you're pregnant. Still freaks you out, though, because you might be!

Yes, but I was under a huge amount of stress that end of the month (actually the whole month) with my Dad's cancer diagnosis and attending the birage of doc. appointments he had scheduled. It occured to me after 2 weeks past the date that it had never happened. Everything was normal the next month.

I've been on Ortho-trycycline (sp) for 6 years and the only times that I missed my period was when I was pregant. I'd check just to be sure.
