Ladies help me on this.
In October we are staying for a week and celebrating my birthday, my daughter’s birthday, and my wife and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary.

I want to take her to EPCOT (after leaving our daughter at a kids club somewhere) and have a nice dinner, get some smoothies at the French kiosk, and watch the fireworks.

What do you know of the restaurants in the World Showcase at EPCOT that would be good for a nice dinner together, and which ones do you like if you have sampled them?

:surfweb:

I think the most romantic restaurant in the WS is Bistro de Paris in France, on the second floor about Chefs de France. (Chefs de France has great food, too, but usually too crowded with families to really feel romantic.)

Over the years, we've eaten in most of the restaurants in the WS, and that is by far our favorite for romance. We also like Marrakesh in Morocco, for something exotic. The belly dancer may or may not make the evening seem more romantic to either of you, depending on your attitudes about the dancer.

Agree with Bistro de Paris

Le Cellier is far to crowded and jammed together to be romantic.

the land grille in the booths can be - well sort of.

mexico has the same problem as le Cellier - too many people (tables) in too small an area.

for counter service like Norway - Kringla Bakeri og Cafe - the tables are outside but they are away from the walkway.

What is the dress code for Bistro de Paris?

For Epcot - I would use either the Beach Club Kids Klub (Sandcastle Club) and go to Yachtsman Steakhouse - or I've read good reviews from people who have used the kids club at the swan, while dining at Shula's (I believe) Dolphin Club I believe... but I think that is a 2 hour limit and both of these restaurants I believe eating can take 2 hours!!

I've always found the Yachtsman to be a darker lit and quieter area... and fantastic food!

For me Bistro De Paris is the most romantic restaurant in Epcot. My husband and I ate there April 08 as one of the meals we had during our 25th anniversary celebration. ( We have eaten there about 8 - 10 times over the years so we knew what we wanted.) The Maitre D was very accomodating - we got there earlier than our reservations and explained that it was our anniversary and could we wait for a table by the window since we wanted to watch the fireworks while we had dessert. No problem - he gave us a wonderful table overlooking Epcot and we watched the fireworks with our dessert.

The night of our anniversary however, we ate at Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. The only restaurant in Disney that requires a jacket and tie for men. They print menus specifically for the guests eating there that night. Ours have our names and what we were celebrating. A very nice keepsake.

Yachtsman Steakhouse is quiet, and somewhat romantic. I've not eaten at Bistro de Paris, but Dh and I find the Rose & Crown to be extremely romantic. Although you are not guaranteed a lakeside view, you have a pretty good chance.

We've gone three times with intentions of viewing illuminations. We've made reservations for 7:20 and this is what we got...

1st time -- on the terrace -- almost perfect (the next table at the most primo viewing spot.)

2nd time -- we showed up 30 or 40 minutes late...we were inside but could see some of Illuminations through the patio, through the terrace. We didn't pay a lot of attention, because we were just starting our meal.

3rd time -- we were outside, but not on the terrace. Right before Illuminations, the CMs removed the heavy tarp so that we could see. It was great except for the awnings.

I usually order the Fish & Chips. Last time, I ordered the Surf & Turf. It was really good. Dh had the lamb two ways. He said it was really good. I got the celebration chocolate cake afterwards.

As for your celebrations...other restaurants made a bigger deal out of my 40th birthday than Rose & Crown. Cape May, Kona, & The Plaza brought me desserts (that I hadn't asked for) and sang Happy Birthday.

If you go to my 40th b-day trip report listed below, the Rose & Crown food and view are at the bottom of page 4.

Bistro de Paris hands down... There is no special dress code, but to help with the celebration, you can dress up a little if you want. We had Christmas Eve dinner there a few years ago and wore a jacket and tie. We noticed others were dressed for the occasion, too.

What is the dress code for Bistro de Paris?

We were there in November 08 and had the best dinner! Very romantic...ask for a seat by the window so you can watch everyone walking around France.

They told me that the dress was nice so I were a dress and my husband were khaki pants and a button down. However, there were people in there in jeans.

In EPCOT..Bistro hands down.

I also saw someone recommended yachtsmen and I would have to agree esp if you love steak...such a high end experience and beautiful place. Also just 2 min walk from International Gateway so you can still do all the other things, Plus walking around BC/YC to EPCOT is quite a romantic stroll by the water or boat ride.

My idea of a nice romantic night at Epcot - rent the boat - is her name Breathless?? over at the Yacht Club. Pack a picnic and champagne - watch illumunations from the boat.

found a dining review of Bistro de Paris!!

post #134 - great pictures of food AND the restaurant itself!

That IS a great review. Thank you so much for posting the link.
I’m about like Andy Griffith when it comes to French restaurants. Remember in the Andy Griffith episode when Andy and Barny went to Raleigh to a law enforcement convention and they went to the French restaurant? Barney didn’t know it when he placed his order but he ended up with snails and brains. Andy had steak and a bear to be safe. I’d be ordering the steak and bear as well. LOL!

Ladies what do you think of this? My wife doesn’t know I’m doing anything for our anniversary at all.

1. I’m making reservations at the Bistro de Paris for around 8:00pm

2. I’ll take our DD to the kids club at the VWL around 5:30 to 6:00pm for her to play all night. Our DD LOVEs these places. We are already booked for the week of October 25th and I made the reservations in March while riding the magic carpets in Fantasy Land. The CM thought I was a nut! [click here]

3. I take my wife down to the boat launch and we board a boat to one of the hotels on the route or to the MK.

4. From there we stroll for awhile then board the monorail for the TTC and transfer to the EPCOT monorail.

5. We arrive at EPCOT and enter the park and enjoy each other’s company just strolling and talking and enjoying the sites.

6. We end up at the Bistro de Paris and check in a little early and request a seat at the window to see the lagoon.

7. We have dinner and see the fireworks. A few toasts for our 10 years together (and many, many more).

8. Then a slow stole back to the monorail then to the Poly and board another boat back to the hotel room while enjoying the evening on the water.

Oh yea… And pickup DD. Can’t forget that.

What do you think? Any other ideas to add to that list please post them.

That sounds like a great evening.

My one suggestion might be to check and see if Disney still has in-room babysitting. We used them many years ago when our kids were little. They would bring games and books and play with the kids - you could ask for them to be in bed at a certain time and when you get back to the room, if your child is asleep your romantic evening can continue.

Bistro de Paris
Coral Reef is not bad if you can get seating right next to the fish tank view, but kinda noisy in there sometimes.

Forgive my persistence...

your #1 objective is to sit in a romantic spot to watch the fireworks, and you describe yourself to be like Andy and Barney.:confused3

Please reconsider and go with Rose & Crown.

While not as asked, I'd look at the California Grill timed so you could see the MK fireworks from there. Explain your special occasion when you book and request a window side table, repeat your request and reason on check in and let them know you're willing to wait a while in the lounge to get that request.

I love the California Grill (and Jiko, for that matter) and do agree that it can make for a great romantic evening. Of course, I'm one of the people who make them less romantic by bringing our 4 year old everywhere with us.

I think your planned evening at Bistro sounds wonderful.

I don't know how romantic an evening Rose and Crown would be. You're not certain to get one of the great views, although they are great if you happen to get one. Personally, I think the food is much better at Bistro de Paris, but I happen to like French food. Snails (in the right buttery, garlicky sauce) are actually pretty good. Really!

Anyway, lovely plans!
