I'll be travelling in September so know it will be warm! I'm a dress and skirt girl, but is this too impractical for the parks and ride? Should I just stick to shorts and go out and buy a load? (We're there for 18 days!)
What do you wear in the parks normally?
Oh and shoes of course (can't forget the shoes!) what would you suggest? Vans, converse, sandals?
Thanks!!

September will still be hot and humid, so I would suggest shorts, or very light weight capri pants; makes it much easier to do the rides. If you are just going to dinner at night, or to DTD, a cute dress or skirt would be fine. You could certainly bring a good pair of sneakers, but I would suggest a very comfortable pair of waterproof sandals. Getting caught in a Florida downpour is no fun with sneakers; you could be up to your ankles in minutes.

I wear dresses and skirts during the summer. It is much cooler than shorts or pants. Especially since dresses don't have sleeves usually, you really have less clothes on. I want to feel like a girl, even if I'm at WDW.

I usually wear shorts or capris but if you are comfortable in skirts and dresses go for it. If you usually wear them you will be fine. As far as shoes, comfortable is necessary. I like to have at least 2 pairs of shoes to wear into the parks. If you get soaked in a rain storm you will be happy to have dry shoes to wear when you get back to the room. If we came back to the camper for the afternoon, I usually change into my other pair before going back to the parks for the evening anyway. Switching seems to make all the walking easier on my feet! I love my merrell sneakers and my keen sandals for this.

I definitely vote for the dresses. I was a bank teller for 24 years :scared1: I love dressing like a girl and feeling like a lady !! :cool1: I always wear dresses and have never had an " uncomfortable " moment. If you usually wear them you know how to handle it. ;) And PP was correct , they are much cooler too. They are a one piece answer to " What to wear ? " and I know that mine take up so little room in the suitcase. :rotfl2: I bring a couple pairs of shorts , but hardly ever use them. Enjoy whatever you chose !! :cheer2:

I also love to wear skirts and dresses, but prefer the freedom of climbing in and out of rides without worrying that I might have a "wardrobe malfunction".... so, I have started to buy exercise skorts (you can find these at Target, Kohls, etc.) to wear in the parks, or I wear a pair of spandex yoga shorts under dresses!

I wore a sundress almost every day of our trip last September. I have to tell you, it was so much more comfortable. I did take a pair of volleyball type shorts to wear under 2 of the dresses that were a few inches above the knee, just to be on the safe side.;)

I always wear shorts, tank tops, and flip flops to the parks but when we have an off day or go to DTD for dinner and shopping, I wear a skirt or sundress then.

I've worn lightweight capris (even below the knee in the middle of summer), lightweight shorts, skorts and sundresses. I didn't have a problem with any of those. Wear what you are comfortable with.

The only clothes that ever bothered me were stiff or heavy shorts (denim or dockers type). YUCK! Too hot, hold in humidity, and never dry out when they get wet. Double Yuck. Oh, and take care when you choose your bras. I had one that was lace along the back and that was horribly irritating. If we hadn't taken a midday break it would have worn my skin off.

I've worn sandals (love my Clarks), crocs, and tennis shoes. Again, wear what's comfortable. I think changing up the type of shoes I wore helped on our two week trip. I did follow some Dis advice on that trip and brought along Mole Skin (you can find it at the pharmacy). I used it to cover a small hot spot that was forming on my heel by the end of week one and never got a blister. I won't leave home without that again. It held up to all of the walking without budging (much better than a band aid would).

I wear Tshirt-style tops and skorts, which are either a split skirt/culottes or a skirt with attached shorts. I always have a broad-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and I wear New Balance walking shoes and New Balance socks most of the time. I carry an extra pair of socks in my fanny pack.

For our August trip, I'm taking lightweight capris and lightweight, light colored shirts. For shoes, I'm going to alternate between comfortable sneakers and Sketchers GoWalks. The GoWalks don't have a lot of arch support, so I got some Dr. Scholl's inserts that make them really comfortable.

I wear dresses and skirts everyday at Disney. I wear them everyday at home also. They're just so much more comfier! As for shoes I wear teva mush flip flops.

I love my capris and my bermuda shorts, they are longer and my legs don't stick on the seats anywhere..I wear Clarks different type athletic shoes as well as their flip flops...

I'm a skirt girl too and it's difficult to wear them for my job so I wear skorts often- best of both worlds! Also, I highly recommend sneakers, but for my trip I also purchased Nike flip flops for shorter spurts at the parks and DTD (they've come out with cuter, less "athletic" looking ones lately).

For me it really depends on what time of year what I bring to wear. In Sept. it's going to be hot and muggy. I like walking shorts, they keep everything from rubbing, and from siting down on a hot seat or bench, or ride seat. I also like skorts for evening, they have start making one a bit longer again, so you look like your wearing a skirts, but if you need to you can bend over and jump on a ride without worry. I have worn sundress and skirts as well, but only for evening, when I know we are not going to be doing any major rides. I prefer, Tanks and T-shirts during the day, light weight tops preferable sleeveless.

I love shoes, so I bring a couple of pairs :rotfl2: Okay several pairs:rotfl2: alright I bring a lot of shoes, but changing them often seems to really help my feet, I got DH to bring several pairs of his last trip and he said he could tell the difference.

I am all about cute little sundresses while at Disney. I tend to go for Prana dresses and other moisture wicking brands. Plus they are just darn cute and very flattering cuts. I have never had a problem wearing dresses and doing rides. Just remember to be a lady and keep your knees together and pull your dress down once you sit. Space mountain can be the only ride that can be a pain based on the way the seats work. Just be aware and you'll be fine...you feel cool and look adorable!:thumbsup2

I wear sundresses to the parks. When we went in 2009, I wore a dress one day and shorts the next.
When we went last year, I wore a sundress two days, shorts on the third (which were cute denim shorts and I got wet at 10 am, and was STILL WET at 11 pm!).

This year I've got the following planned:
Flight day- sundress and flip flops.
Dinner day of arrival (O'Hana)- hawiian print skirt, tank top, flip flops.
Magic Kingdom- black skort, pink tank with white polka dots, pink crocs
Animal Kingdom- Hakuna matata shirt and shorts, sandals
Hollywood- need ideas
Epcot- need ideas

Our day off, we are going DTD and probably doing mini golf, I will wear a sundress. Same with check out day.

I am a denim shorts girl. I think they control the chafing better and don't "ride up". So I wear those with tank tops in the warmer months. In the cooler months I wear jeans or yoga pants. And sneakers in the parks...always sneakers!! (plantar fasciitis!...OUCH!)

Try some "body glide" along your bra straps and inner thighs. It's like a deodorant stick that prevents chafing. It's amazing stuff! Second best is a bar deodorant. It makes all the difference in the world. It even works on your heels and the bottom of your feet for blister prevention!

We usually go in the summer and I prefer sundress or skirts and tank tops! Occ I also do sport skorts!
