I live locally, but would love to meet up with some Dis ladies! Keep my in mind if there is something that you need checked out in person, etc. I would be willing to do some leg work for you if I can!!!

Maybe when you all decide on a date, I'll fly my mom in from PA to watch my DD for a couple days, so I can stay over and play!!!

Oh, you should! Just because you live locally doesn't mean you can't take a "ladies only" vacation.

I am planning a trip with my DH & DS 9/28-10/3. If you go that weekend, I would still like to meet up with everyone sometime!!!
I would not mind sharing a room!

For those who live in the area or who will already be there with family, once we start to get more specific plans, those people are more than welcome to join us for a day or two or for an evening out. The more the merrier!

I have an idea. If we end up staying thru Oct. 2nd, then you could just stay on till the 5th and have them meet you there! One big, long vacation for you.

I could possibly meet the weekend before, but not either of those 2 weekends since we are Jewish and the High Holidays fall during that time this year, not to mention the birthday of 2 of my sons. Bummer!

T&B, I nominate you to plan an alternate trip for those of us losers who can't go in September. Why you? Because I think you are respected and well-liked around here...and I don't want to do it.

mommaU4, I told my DH about the ladies only trip, and he really let me down. He didn't even freak about it being so close to our trip. Sometimes I think he's too supportive. It's nice in RL, but it doesn't provide very interesting material for the DIS!

This sounds like lots of fun! If I can find a lady friend that is willing to come with me I will do it. I don't fly and a 12-14 hour drive by myself, I fear I would fall asleep! I have a friend that I think will come with me though, I'll e-mail her tonight!

What is a magical gathering and would we be able to do something like that?

I know the resorts give discounts for large groups, I could have gotten AKL last year for a paintball tournament for $148 night!

I would love to go but am going to Israel next Jan. so am watching the money. I would need to see how much it would cost before I could decide for sure if I can go. I don't mind sharing a room as well as long as it is non-smoking. I would have to fly in so that really adds to the price.

ladies weekends are the best!!
I'm already doing one Oct. 18-22.

Our group started on the AOL message boards and now we have a private Yahoo group.
We have been doing meets for about 6 years now. It's so much fun.
It has become harder for some people to travel w/o their families, so some people do end up with husbby's and kids.
We pick one night to have the official meet, we have met in the Crewscup, Boam, and recently gathered in the BCV where the TV room is and brought our own food. We meet up another night for MNSSHP. For the most part we all stay at the BCV's, this year it's BWV's. A lot of people have DVC, some people stay at POP, or POFQ, I've even stayed off site one of the years.
Usually the girls all hang out together and do food & wine. It's so much fun!!
For the record I levae the DH and kids behind, there are about 30 or more of us now, about half leave the rest of the family behind.

SO, DO IT!! Make it a yearly event!! You won't regret it.

Thanks for the offer! Would you be planning to drive anyway? I wouldn't want you to alter your transportation method. Where is Hickory? When I pull it up on Mapquest I get 2 choices of Catawba and Nash which are on opposite sides of the state? I know we pass signs for Hickory when we travel to Charlotte. I really don't mind driving, it's just a really long drive alone.

LOL I know for me the first time it was tough. They have learned to accept it.
I take them enough.
Now every year at that time they seem excited for me. It's probably because they know they will get to eat all the bad stuff I don't let them have while I'm around I'm sure they get away with a lot while I'm gone.

I am definately interested! As another SHAM, I could use the break. Either weekend would work for me. Also this might be a chance for me to ride the thrill rides, my kids are too young, and I don't want to ride alone!
