Oh oh oh! When does the Food and Wine Fest start this year? That would help me decide on the date ;)

Food & Wine starts September 29.

Since I'm already planning to be there Sept. 20-Oct. 3, I voted for then. So far just 2 girls!!!

Would love to meet up with some other women from DIS!!!

just wanted to say that I am a travel agent on the side, so I would be happy to check into stuff for us. This is going to be sooooo much fun! I promised dh that we wouldn't take ds(9mo) until he is 5 and I just can't wait that long to go! Let's do this! What type of hotel category do you think we should do? :scratchin

I'm watching my pennies, too, so I'm very interested in sharing a room. I'm a very conscientious roommate.

Should we start narrowing down a resort category or area? That will probably be the next poll.

The DVC option isn't looking too promising so far. Maybe somebody should post a link on that board.

I'm so ready to go...:)

well if we are gonna share rooms it would be cool to stay deluxe or pool money and do dvc, or rent dvc I think we would have alot of options
maybe someone has an AP, or if there are enough of us we could do a magical gathering
any ideas anyone

Hi everyone!!

Seems like we have gotten quite a few of us who are more than ready for this sort of trip! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I would like to let this poll run for a little while longer just so everyone gets a chance to have some say in when we go. Although it appears that for most of us it doesn't matter, which is good. Then after that, the later dates seem like they are ahead slightly. According to Aidensmom the Food and Wine Festival would be going on then and I wonder when the MNSSHP starts? Last year it started Sept. 30, but I haven't found out yet for this year, but that might be something happening at that time too. Just something to think about.

Once we get our dates then we can start on the next logical step which would be where to stay. And we'll probably get a few ideas then do a poll for that as well.

Like I said before, we don't all have to stay at the same place, I just think it makes more sense and would be alot more fun. But if we end up at someplace you hate, well, the choice is certainly yours to stay elsewhere and just meet up with us throughout the trip.

Thank-you to chell for suggesting links between the two threads and to dis ms and 2BigKidz for posting them. I have a thread with a link to this one in the DIS meets area so maybe that will help get the word out. :thumbsup2

I know alot of you are on a strict budget, I am on one myself. I figure with this trip still being 6-7 months out, that should give us time to start saving. And soon we'll have more of an idea of what the actual cost will be too.

One more thing, just because I thought of this and posted it, etc, doesn't mean I am going to "play God" with the plans. All ideas, thoughts, opinions, are more than welcome and very much appreciated. We all want to go and have a great time. If we get a large group, (which I hope we do!!) we might not be able to please everyone every minute of the trip, but we'll try. That's one reason for the polls. So we can go with a "majority rules" way of planning.

I'm sooooo excited. This will be great. :sunny:

woo hoo
good idea mommau and i am sure no matter what we all do we will have FUN FUN FUN FUN !!!!

This is such a great idea! I'm all for it and would have no problem at all with sharing a room! :thumbsup2

I'd love to go, but I'm on the west coast and there is no way I can go this year. :( But hey, if anyone is in my neck of the woods for the annual Amtrack mooning this year, let me know and we'll schedule a moon meet!

Thanks for the offer! Would you be planning to drive anyway? I wouldn't want you to alter your transportation method. Where is Hickory? When I pull it up on Mapquest I get 2 choices of Catawba and Nash which are on opposite sides of the state? I know we pass signs for Hickory when we travel to Charlotte. I really don't mind driving, it's just a really long drive alone.

It is the Hickory that is in Catawba county, zip 28601. It would be so much cheaper to drive but I wouldn't want to drive alone. So, if we could ride together I think it would be wonderful for both of us.

The signs you pass are the ones for here. If you would rather meet up in Charlotte that would work for me too.

I'll PM you my email address so that as more gets worked out we can plan more.

Let me know if there is any planning that i can help with or any researching you want me to do. Also, I'm up for sharing a room.

Are there any ladies here who can get a great deal?

:rotfl2: It just occured to me as I read your post that if someone reads this but hasn't read my other thread, they might think you are just out there on your own mooning Amtrak trains! :teeth:

Sorry to hear you won't be able to join us. :( Maybe we'll make this an annual thing and then you can catch us next time around. :thumbsup2

i will be coming from the boston area ( most likely) anyone that would be going form that area maybe we could fly down together....

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 This is great to see!! Already we have some DIS ladies making it happen. Wonderful. :sunny:

I just thought of something. I keep using the word "ladies" because I posted this as a ladies only trip. I wonder though, if after 5 days on the loose, how many will still qualify to be called a lady? :scratchin :rotfl2: Maybe our motto will have to be, "What happens in Disneyworld, stays in Disneyworld"? ;) :p J/K

I would love to go, but because I'm a teacher, I can't take time off during the school year. :( I love the idea, though!

Me too! I would love to go and meet some lovely lady Disers. My sister and I took a girls only trip one Christmas and it was so much fun.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I just checked next year's school calander and we have a PD day on Oct. 2 so I could use my personal days for Thursday and Friday! I would be flying out of Louisville and would be more than happy to share a room.

HOW in God's great green earth do you tell your KIDS that you are going to DISNEY without them???? Ohhhhh, I can just see it now...... NO thank you... Count me out. I wouldn't have a home to back to!!! :scared:
haha.... have a blast tho... I'm sure it will be a GREAT time!!!
Uhhhhh, don't tell them? :confused3 :teeth:

Seriously, I know it's hard to leave the kids especially for a trip like this. And I'm sorry to hear you won't be joining us. :(
I have never gone on a solo trip anywhere. Ever. DH and I have taken short trips without the kids while they stayed with Grandma, but never have I gone someplace alone. So I'll be honest, I'm a little nervous about it. I might even cry. (BTW, if I do, someone please hit me!)

But I am mommy 24/7, and in order to keep being mommy 24/7 without going insane I have to take some time now and then to recharge. Hopefully when I come back I will be a better mom to them then I would be if I was stressed out all the time.

As far as explaining where I'm going to....well, they'll get over it. :teeth: We were just there as a family right after last Thanksgiving, and this summer we are all going to California and will go to Disneyland and Ca. Adventure. They are not deprived children by any means. And they'll be in good hands while I'm gone (daddy's) and knowing me, I'll probably have to bring an empty suitcase with me to carry back all the souveniors in! :goodvibes
