I was invited to a Ladies Only party (use your imagination) on Sat. night and didn't go. Alot of women I like went but so did my mother in-law, which is why I didn't go. Two of my sister in-laws went and my brother in-laws girlfriend went. I just couldn't imagine being there with my mother in-law. The games, the items for sale and even the cake:eek: being served all sound like fun around friends but not MIL. I'm just wondering who here would go with their MIL and who else would skip it and does not going make me a stick in the mud. Also, DH did not want me going with his mom.

I would have a blast at those...but going with MIL..I dont knwo if I would. The nice hing for me is that mine woudl not be invited to anything like that. But I am with you, I would go if she was there.;)

It depends on your comfort level. I sell adult novelties and there are quiet a few women there with their mothers or MIL.

You don't know what people order and you're generally too busy laughing and enjoying yourself to be uncomfortable because your MIL is there.

Call me a stick in the mud but I don't even like those things with my friends let alone MIL or even worse MY mother.

I wouldn't have gone either.

There's a lot more to those parties than the battery operated stuff.
We have some awesome high quality candles, and bath products.

I agree those parties are a blast. I jus tdont like MIL that much. And I wouldnt go with my mom..but she wouldnt go to one of those parties.

You get me and my cousins all at one of those or me and my friends..oh they are hilarious. Very fun time.:)

I also think it depends on your MIL. While I do think adult novelties might have done my late MIL a world of good, I can't imagine talking shop with her.

I wouldn't go to one if my MIL or MY mom were there. But neither would go to one. I think it's one of those things that is fun only with other ladies in your own generation.

I would go if my MIL was going, as we get on well, (unless it bothered my DH, then I wouldn't go) but not if my Mum was going ;)

It all depends on how you feel, so don't feel guilty if you were happier not going!

I meant it depends on your comfort level, because in my experience the MIL that would go is usually fine with DIL being there. It's the DIL that is usually creeped out.

and again, it's not like you know what she ordered. I wish my MIL would go to a party. She could use the products more than anyone I have ever met in my life ;)

My dil has had several of those party's. I didn't go and my adult dd didn't go either. Just don't feel like what I do in my bedroom is anyone's business. DD feels the same.

I go out partying with my dil in law all the time. I draw the line for this type of thing.

I would feel very strange going to that sort of party with my mom or with Chris' mom. Esp. with his mom.

Trust me. At my parties, the only way you know about what goes on in someone's bedroom is if they volunteer that info. Ordering is done in private and the item is shipped to you discretely and directly.

I would go with my MIL before I would go with my mother, well, EX-MIL, but heck, her and I are on the same track. I think it would depend on what kind of person your MIL is. I know that MOST people don't get along with their MIL but I got along with and still do even though I am divorced with my EX-MIL better than I ever got along with my own Mother.

I wouldn't go with my Mom or MIL - I'm with liznboys - it helps if the group are of the same generation, IMO.

 right back at ya monkeyboy! ;)

I've been to those parties with my mom and grandmother. My grandmother was a riot. There was also a gay guy at the party my grandmother was at, those two had us all laughing.

You don't discuss what goes on in your bedroom unless you want to and the only person that knows what you order is the consultant.

I've also been to couples parties with my brothers and their wives. One brother is shy but the other is not, he was funny.

Dil says that guys can't come to "those" parties as that is considered to be soliciting and is illegal. Don't know if that is something that is only in our state.
