Ladies - Need your advice! Will this be OK for Jiko?

Why do you say that? Do most people go in looking like bums or wear park clothes? I thought that signature restraunts had a strict dress code? If they do, then those restraunts should stick with their "rule" and not let people dine those clothes.

Not sure you commenting me being better dressed is a good thing or bad thing. :confused3 I DEF. dont wanna stick out like a sore thumb or be over dressed. Although what everyone has told me so far what Im gonna wear is perfect.

I think the dress is fine and the shoes are cute. I'm sure you will be better dressed than many other people.

Have fun.

You will be better dressed than MOST other people at Jiko.

You will absolutely NOT stick out like a sore thumb! If anything others will admire that you look so lovely. Your dress is adorable, the shoes are sweet, and you will look and feel smashing! Yes, some people go in wearing "park" clothes because they are stopping for dinner and then going back to the parks. No biggee.....

I have a gorgeous Ann Taylor dress I am wearing for our anniversary dinner and I don't give a *HOOT* if I'm dressed better than everyone else there! lol We'll be at CG and hubby has already stated he will be wearing dressier shorts. Thats fine with me! I want to look and feel my best for me.

I have dined at Jiko many times--and all the other Signature restaurants as well. Very casual is the norm--jeans, shorts, t-shirts, etc. ,all of which meet the dress code. Please just don't go expecting very many others to be dressed as you are--I'd be very suprised if there were more than a handful of other ladies there in a dress. I've never seen a man there in a jacket.
All that said just to let you know what most others will likely be wearing. If you are comfortable in that dress and really want to wear it, that's great!! You won't really stand out, as most patrons there won't really care what you have on.
Just to add-I usually wear tan slacks and a polo shirt when eating at any Signature restaurant. Mrs U will usually wear shorts (if it's really hot) or a pair of long black jeans if not. Then she'll wear a t-shirt type top.
Dressed that way we are somewhat near the high end of what most folks are wearing.
I saw at least 2 men in plain white undershirts (t-shirt style) last trip, and any # of ladies in tank top style tops. And shorts that probably wouldn't meet my idea of "dress shorts". And not a few kids running around with NO shoes.
But that's the way it IS these days.

Just had to say I love that dress and I may order it. Thank you!

I guess I just dont understand Disney at all sometimes. They place these dress code rules and then they dont enforce them. Whats the point of having those rules in placed when hardly anyone actually follows them. If they are gonna make a dress code for their signature places, they should enforce it. I wouldnt be surprised if they let someone in wearing their bathing suit and a coverup of some sort. I dunno, I tell DH theres a strict dress code, and now when he goes and see everyone dressed like their ready for a day at the park instead of nice looking, Im gonna feel like an idiot and gonna have to try to explain to him that Disney puts these rules in place but dont enforce it and people just come in however they feel like. What Im wearing right now would probably get me into Jiko. Im wearing black shorts and a spagetti strapped white shirt with a lacy cover that connected to the under part. I really wish Disney would enforce their own rules. That way DH and I can go to Jiko and have a nice fancy dinner. Not a dinner like we would have in the middle of a park.

I don't mean any disrespect at all, but that is just rediculous. A lot of families, mine included, planned the Jiko dinner to coincide with AK EMH. So my family and I will go to the park in the afternoon and then head over to Jiko. You cannot expect us to get all dolled up to go to the park first.. that would be really uncomfortable and we'd still look bad going to dinner.

If you want to get dolled up for dinner, wonderful. I will admire your beauty when I'm there and be in complete awe of your magnificence. But let the rest of us have our fun too.

Im sorry you feel that way. But theres TONS of other places to dine at that DONT have a dress code. Im sure there are many other people who would love to be able to get dressed up nice and have a nice fancy dinner. Im not saying that people cant go dressed however they want. What Im trying to get at is why does Disney have these rules in place if they dont enforce them? Whats the point? Just like with the whole shoes with wheels. Disney places a rule in their parks no shoes with wheels aloud, but yet, people still let their kids come in with wheels on their shoes and let their kids skate and the CMs just stand there, look at them and dont say or do anything.

Well the skating thing is more serious since that's a safety violation. But that's a whole other discussion.

Yes there are other restaurants to dine at, but we, like most, enjoy the best tasting food which happens to be at Jiko. You can go to Vicky and Albert's and they will enforce the dress code there.

I'll think you'll look great! We go to one signature dinner a vacation. My DD and I always wear a sundress. Hers are usually "fancy" ones because she wears sundresses every day of the summer. The girl does not like to be casual! :rotfl2: The boys wear nice tan shorts with polo shirts.

The time we went to Jiko I was very close to packing a backpack with our clothes and leaving it in a locker at AK. I decided we would just leave AK by 4 so we had plenty of time to get ready. Of course I was wrong, I've got kids who like to cross every attraction off their list. I wasn't about to go to Jiko in park attire so we took our very first Disney taxis to get there in time! We were only 15 minutes late, but we looked good! Perhaps that is why Goofy called my DD when we were eating!

Have fun in your dress!

I love the dress and think it will be beautiful but I also have to say you are spending way too much time worrying about what to wear. Disney does not enforce the dress code because it would drive business away from these restaurants. They put a dress code in place in hopes most people will be at least reasonable in their attire choices. Unfortunately not everyone is as fashion savvy as you clearly are (not being sarcastic here, I mean that!) There will always be a segment of the population who feel skimpy tank tops and "wife beaters" are the height of fashion and that they look fabulous in them:confused3 . Don't let them ruin you dinner!!

I liked the dress so much I went on the site and bought two of them. Along with a pair of shoes and two shirts.....I found a coupon for 30% off and free shipping. Thanks for the wonderful idea. Its pretty but not too dressy.

I normally don't like crocs, but those are really cute and will look great with that dress. You are going to be the envy of everyone I'm sure. It's gonna be a knockout combo. YAY!

LOL! Thanks!!

Im just gonna wear my dress and my crocs and who nos maybe I will even get checked out? ;) Thats always fun, espcially with DH around! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: The guys get jealous and all DH can be like yeah thats MY wife! :lmao:

Thats great that you bought 2! I was thinking about buying this one to - Click here

I was thinking about buying that one to wear around the house. One thing I did realize that I DIDNT realize before ordering, that these dresses are actually cover ups for bathing suits! If you read the description you would see their cover ups. Although they dont look like it. They look like regular dresses. So I hope I can make it work out and still can wear it to Jiko. Has anyone ever worn a cover-up dress without a bathing suit? Im thinking that these dresses might be to where you can wear it with or without bathing suits. In the pics, it doesnt even look like the models are wearing bathing suits. So who knows! :confused3

I think you are going to look great. By the way, I do like to get a little more dressed up when I go to a signature restaurant. I usually schedule a day off or early break from the parks and give myself time to dress a little nicer. My daughter uses the opportunity to where a sundress or skirt b/c she doesn't too often. I usually where some capris and a cute top since I rarely dress up any more than that even for work.

Disney8704: If you read the dress code very closely, you'll see shorts, jeans and t-shirts mentioned. And peoples idea of what are nice looking shorts and jeans is truly amazing. I saw a guy at Citrico's last trip with "carpenter" jeans on--the kind with the huge pockets where you can stow your hammer and screwdriver. Looked awful--but he met the code. About the only thing that won't meet the code are those things specifically excluded--which essentially is tank tops on men, swim wear, torn clothes. EVERYTHING else would most likely meet the code. So the guy I saw in black cargo shorts and that plain white undershirt with sleeves MET the code. And that outfit you mentioned you had on would also very likely meet the code. It's not Disney not enforcing the code so much as it is the very casual nature of the code. And casual is "in" at WDW and Disney realizes that.
I heard on NPR this very morning as to how few men wear a tie anymore--to ANYWHERE-weddings, funerals, work. And how even many corporate executives and CEO's favor coming to work in jeans or shorts.
