So, as I am exploring the vast knowledge base of the Disboards, DH says to me "why are you looking at more bags - why do we have to buy a new bag every year for our trip?".... And he has a point,

Last year I after much reading, I bought a Vera Bradley Hipster. Holds a decent amount of stuff, but there were still times were I had to pull lots of items out to get to that one item at the bottom. But - my biggest complaint was that the hipster pilled my T-Shirts!! So, on all on my lovely disney T-Shirts I now have a pilled fabric line between the girls - lovely eh?

It is only DH and I traveling, so no need for a huge bag. I do not bring my disney planner with me, only a small piece of paper each day with ADR's/etc. I wear glasses, so I need my glasses and sunglasses with me. DH carries the camera. I like to carry ponchos (but was not able to fit them into the hipster). I also don't like having a heavy bag to lug around all day.

So.... I am back to my search..... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

When my husband & I go we only bring a backpack. We take turns wearing it and it never gets in the way with pictures or ruins the clothes. Normally what goes in it is the camera, 2 ponchos, drinks, sandwiches, snax, etc. Passes, drivers license, folded cash & credit card we wear around our necks with a lanyard thingy. Travel light that's my motto!

That's a good idea! I just mentioned it to DH, and he wasn't overly moved by the idea - but I might just be able to convince him! ;)

This trip I used an Overland Donner. I loved it! No pilling b/t the "girls", no shoulder strain. The front flap has a hook/string where I put a Vera Bradley ID holder that held my kttwc, etc. Also in the front flap were many organized areas for lipstuff, tissues, notepad, etc. There were two side openings that held the 16.9oz water bottles well (though a little heavy at the start of the day...). The inside had a small separator where I kept wipes, bandaids and packets of aleve. Then the bigger area is where I kep my camera.

You can shop around for a good price on these. Mine actually cost $10 from a holiday sale on the Overland site (thanks to another DISer's post :) )

The picture of it on the manequin on the above link makes it look huge, really it was the size of a medium purse.

I usually get a new bag too...its so silly I know. I have a few designer bags but don't like to take anything wicked expensive to Disney but I still like some thing fashionable. I really like the small coach totes. They have good pockets, we don't carry a lot at all either. My camera(dslr), bf's p&s and our license,cc and chapsticks.

I'm subscribing because I'm also looking for a new bag.

I'm with the OP - seems like trip planning and bag shopping go hand and hand for me. I just bought some new luggage organization/toiletry bags too, and now I want to find a fashionable cross-body bag for just a few small items (wallet, camera, sunglasses, lip balm).

Too funny - I thought that, I was like wow that's a big bag... lol. Thank you for the tip... and I will have to watch for deals.

I don't bring any of my Coach's to the park.. too worried about getting something on them (and they can get heavy). I think that is why DH doesn't quite get the need for a new bag - he sees so many in my closet already..:lmao:

No.. no... no they don't ! :lmao:

But he is being a good sport about it .... I found a new croc sling backpack tucked away in my closet (bought it last year as a contender for WDW and it didn't make the cut). It is pink, lightweight, not huge, pretty comfy....and did I mention pink? Well, he has almost agreed to wear it for the week so I don't but any more bags! :rotfl2: ... and I almost might let him!! :rotfl2:

I really like Giani Bernini's cross over slings. It holds a few more items than my coach bag, so I'm not taking a backpack this time. I bought a small coach camera case that clips onto my beltloop. Personally I love it, keeps me from digging around for my camera every few minutes.

A friend of mine is designing me a bag! I'm so excited! It will be cross body, but also have a belt "loop" for me to wear on my belt. If you're on Facebook, her business is Bee Leigh Bags.

I've been looking around for a bag also! ;)

I should start by saying I hate carrying a bag!!! Before I had kids I refused and stuck everything in my pockets (not very fashionable!!) but bags just were not my thing. I would loose them constantly, and I could not stand digging through to find something on the bottom.

I am constantly afraid of loosing my iPod and phone... so I panic at least once a day because I can't find it after it's slipped to the bottom of my bag. I carry a canvas bag from Lands End usually and a backpack to the parks. The Lands End bag is OK. But still constantly digging for stuff! The backpack (that I bring to the parks) is GYNORMOUS! And can get pretty heavy.

I looked around at one of the links above and came across this:
http://www.ebags.com/ameribag/dna_l...id=detail_ai&rcode=res10022813370842292611879

I like the look and it looks pretty manageable - Lots of pockets and I especially like there is a pocket that is along the seam close to my back to put money or tickets in. Looks big enough for ponchos and snacks and I could easily use one of the front pockets for my phone.

What do you think???

Hmmmm..... pretty nice looking bag! Thanks for the link! I will have to keep that one in mind and see which one DH prefers as well (since I am going to give him equal - or more - carrying time with it).

Has anyone been on DCL recently? There was a bag I got from the Castaway Club and the bag is circular. Would this be ok to carry in the park - it's not a typical bag you see people carrying in WDW but I figured since it was a DCL bag it wouldn't matter.

:) I have also tried the Vera Bradley mini hipster and smaller backpack. I usually get the mini out first. DH and I do not have children so I don't need or use much stuff. I like the mini because I am short and Pooh sized and it hangs perfectly and does not dig into my shoulder too much. DH cannot help me carry a bag becasue of the camera equipment....tripods, lens, etc....they get carried by him.

I am really going to try to use the backpack more when we go in Dec.

I got a Vera Bradley "Mailbag" a couple of weeks ago in a pattern that was on sale and got an additional % off! I really like it! :cheer2: I tried it out on our trip to Charleston this past weekend! It is easy to organize and can hold lots! :woohoo: I can't wait to use it at WDW next month!:rotfl:

For those of you who do use Vera Bradley.... have you had issues with the straps pilling your shirts? I was so bummed out when I realized this was happening during our last trip:sad1:

Also has anyone noticed issues with them not being good with water...I know my coach bags are some what Water resistant but the Vera bags wouldn't seem to be good in rain or water rides...Any experiences with this???
