OK...
I had been using the new Neutrogena Minerals Foundation and "kind of" liked it but wanted to try Bare Minerals, so I have used it the past 2 days.

I have pretty oily skin. By around lunch time (only 3-4 hours after application) I am getting the normal oily shine on my face in the typical areas, including my eyelids.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

I used the foundation then the warmth then the mineral veil.

Any tips?

I am just so frustrated trying to find the right powdery foundation for my skin. Nothing seems to work! :confused3

My big tip: Before you use the foundation, do an application of some mineral veil. Finish with it like normal.

That always works for my skin! :)

Have you tried Mary Kay? I have the opposite problem (dry skin) and it works wonders. I know that they have oily skin products too, so you may want to try that. If you go to www.marykay.com you can look for a consultant near you. Mine is moving to Florida but I'm keeping her. Since I know what I like she just mails me my stuff. They will all mail stuff to you...at NO charge! And if it doesn't work, they will swap it for something else. You can't lose with it and it is fabulous stuff!

My friend who also has oily skin applies the mineral veil, foundation, warmth, mineral veil. She says it works pretty well.

I guess I will try the mineral veil first and see if that helps. :) I really want to find a foundation that works for me...I hope this is it. I have gone through about 6 or 7 different ones in the past 5 years. UGH!

Cheerbop, give it a chance. It takes awhile to get the hang of it and achieve the look you want :)

I feel your pain! I think I have the oiliest skin on the planet. I really do. I feel like, if I could rip my face off and wring it out, I'd have a PUDDLE of oil on the floor. ;)

I tried Bare Minerals, along with just about every other product there is, and nothing has worked. I think that stupid oil gets pumped out from the inside, and unless I could get inside my body and shut off the oil pumping machine, I will never achieve an un-shiny look from external products.

If someone has the magic bullet - PLEASE share it! :)

I have the oiliest skin on the planet. :p I can wash my face and an hour later it is oily again.

I have tried so many products and nothing stops the oil. I use Bare Minerals and the only thing that helps is using oil blotting sheets several times a day. Even then I use 3-4 sheets per treatment. I do look better afterward but it gets expensive! :sad2:

I also have very, very oily skin. I have tried everything, was on accutaine in my late 30's, first time I ever had normal skin, as soon as I went off oil came back. I tried B.E. but my skin was just too oily. I have been using Estee Lauder double matte foundation and it works O.K. I still use Oxy wash with 10% benzoil peroxide and that doesn't dry me out. I would love to hear from other oil soaked faces to see what works for them.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with such and oily problem with their face!

Yes, if anyone has a solution, PLEASE SHARE!

I will re-apply my mineral veil in the middle of the day. Also, instead of using those oil absorbing sheets, I just use a tissue, or an inexpensive napkin (like you get from fast food places.) I find that absorbs the oil just as well and they're free. Doing both of these, and the shine is gone. Of course, blot first then buff.

Now I'm glad I'm not the only one with unbelievably oily skin, even into my 40's it's awful. I'm a big fan of bare minerals and never thought of the mineral veil first, thanks for the suggestion.

I wish I could find a doctor that would prescribe Accutane for me. They're all so darned afraid of the side effects. Heck, it's my body, if I want to destroy it with legal drugs, then let me! ;)

I simply can't stand the oil. It's like, right after I wash my face it feels so clean and nice. Heck, I'll even take a dried out face over an oil slick! :teeth:

But then, within 30 minutes, it's back. Drives me insane.

I loved Accutane, for the first time in my life my makeup was the same in the evening as it was in morning. People always tell me I'm lucky to have oily skin because we don't wrinkle as fast. I hate my oil, I'm always so envious of ladies with nice skin. I have drawers full of failed cleansers, toners and makeup. I wish someone would come out with a line of cosmetics for oily skin that really works.

And I think you hit the nail on the head. Only if you use something that works from the inside out, will you see results - like Accutane - that's why it worked.

External products can only mask the oil or sop it up, but something that actually stops the oil machine from the inside, well, that's the ticket. Now, I really need to find a dermatologist in the Buffalo area that is brave enough to prescribe it for me. Jeez, I'm 41 and still suffering with teenage skin! ;)

Count me in as a member of the oily skin club. It's horrid.. I can't wear my hair down because the sides and top get greasy by lunch just by being too close to my face. I actually found that the more I moisterize the less oily and greasy it is. Takes a few days but it works! :)

I use the mineral veil first then everything else. I also use those Blotting papers or just a piece of paper towel to blot. I don't reapply my make up though. I hate the feeling of it on my skin on top of the oil...

I just don't wear makeup hardly every. I go through phases... I'll be really good about wearing it and doing my hair for a few weeks, then I'll get lazy and won't do my makeup or hair for weeks. Just combing and pony tail...

I took a break from nursing a few years ago and got the "bright" idea that it would be "fun" to work at Merle Norman. The lady who owned the shop (owns 3 actually) said she'd NEVER seen such oily skin on a person. She was determinted to find a combination of products that would allow me to work 6-8 hours there without having to take my lunch break to do a total scrub down. During breaks I was using blotting papers. Nothing worked and I quit because I never got to eat lunch and have a relaxing break. (Nursing turned out to be better after all.)

I've gone through all the major cosmetic lines (spending a fortune!) as well as products provided by my dermatologist. Know what I finally found that works best of all for *very oily skin*? Maybelline Purestay Powder Foundation! Cheap stuff (cost wise) but it doesn't clog my pores and definitely holds back the oil better than very expensive makeups.

Oh yeah, Bare Minerals made me look like a "melting candle"! :sad2:

You sound like me - I'm gonna try that Maybelline stuff and see what happens.

Bare Minerals made me look like a melting candle too - a horribly, misshapen melting candle. Too much money for hideous results. :rotfl2:

UGH, people always tell me that too, "you won't get wrinkles you lucky thing". Yeah, you try living with the oil!

Thanks for the tip on trying the veil first, I'm going to try that tomorrow.

I feel so bad for my son, since he was 10, he has had the same problems (of course he doesn't wear foundation. He is slimy all day, he uses those acne pads at least twice during the day to wipe off the oil. His hair is the same way, poor kid!

Grinningghost, when I went on Accutane my dermotologist made me sign a paper that I would not get pregnant, I was 39 and our DD was 4 (only child). I had blood work to check liver function every week. Dr. said once the oil was in check and I was finished with Accutane I would never be as oily. HA Ha!!! Who said Dr.'s know everything!

I'm so happy to know I'm not alone in the adult world of oil production!!
