I agree that if I'm going to be with the same people I'll buy a new dress. I bought a dress for my BIL's wedding and have also worn it on 2 cruises - it is a great dress for formal night.

Not me, but I do insist on getting new underwear before I go on a vacation every year.

I tend to go to a lot of events that I need nice dresses for so I don't even think about how often I've worn each of them. I tend to shop for them often but only buy them occasionally because I'm looking for a color and style I like with a price tag I can afford.

I hate generalizations like that. I personally HATE clothes shopping and dresses. So much for that stereotype.

I'm not a huge shopper....meaning I don't go to the mall on the weekends and stuff like that. Shoes and handbags do not count in what I just said though LOL

I will say though that when we have an event coming up I will go buy a new dress for it. It's usually worth it....there is nothing wrong with you

I too will judge the use on if it is the same crowd. If so then definitely new. Otherwise, it depends on how "old" the style has become. For me NEVER a black dress. I can't do it, and I think I must be the only one as I can rarely fine navy blue or something else that has so many different styles as the "black dress."

My mother and grandmother taught me that it is nice to want to dress up and we should if we want and are able.
