Ladies, do you sport a "muffin top?"

Does anyone else find it somewhat depressing when women can't help but degrade other women? What exactly do you chatty cathy's feel that you're accomplishing by calling the fashion choices other women make "disgusting?"

::yes::

Low rise jeans look good on two types of people: 12 year olds, and celebrities who have all day and night to sculpt their Goddess like bodies.

99% of the women who have thrown away their Mom jeans in favor of low rise jeans should really go through the dumpster and find those Mom jeans again because they are a lot more flattering. Since low riders hit the body at most woman's fattest part, right above the butt, its pretty likely you're gonna have a muffin top no matter who you are.

Sounds like you haven't tried on the right pair of jeans.

Mom jeans are the most unflattering look in the world, while low-rise jeans can be really flattering if you choose the right cut.

I'm so high waisted and tall that if I tried to wear "mom jeans" the waistband would be at my bra! :scared1: Not pretty.

I was never able to wear women's jeans (I had to buy men's) until low-rise came in style.

I wish they'd make jeans that really fit me right, but I can't find them. I have pretty straight hips and a not so skinny waist- when I buy jeans that fit my hips I get some waist spillage, but when I buy jeans that fit my waist properly they're baggie around my butt and look ridiculous.

Me too, but I kinda like my muffin. :lmao:

Nooooo - Mom Jeans=Egg Butts. Egg Butts arent cool, nor flattering. Mom Jeans=Belly Pooches. Belly Poochese arent cool, nor flattering.

Anyone have that link to that "Mom Jeans" SNL Video? :lmao:

that's just flat out not true. all of my jeans are below the waist. all of my jeans look good on me because they are the right size. one pair of jeans in particular fit me like a glove and i get compliments on them all the time. no one would have any idea that they are low rise because i wear shirts that go over them.

it's the mom jeans that are VERY unflattering on most people. they key is finding a pair of jeans in the correct size (and not just thinking i am a size 8 - i must only ever buy size 8's!)

No matter what anyone says I reserve the right to make fun of this fashion trend. "Dunlop" and "plummers crack" have been fashion jokes for as long as I can remember. IMO, it's no less amusing just because it's on a women.

Maybe it was always funny because the men weren't doing it purposely - they just didn't care. I guess maybe some don't think it's funny anymore because people are doing it on purpose?

This doesn't have anything to do with people's weight, only what they are wearing.

I don't have a muffin top simply because I only wear jeans that fit.

It seems as though the thin girls wear I live always buy the right size. It's the overweight teens who I don't get - but I'm more fascinated than anything (like, they must have huge amounts of self-confidence to walk around with their belly hanging out like that, where they are sure to be made fun of by the boys).

But they can do what they want.

Low rise jeans don't have to be so low that when you sit down your crack shows (or your "whale's tail" LOL). Lower rise can look better on everyone with the right size and style.

Exactly, I don't know why there are some people who think that EVERY pair of low rise jeans or pants are this way. For all of those who think Low rise jeans are not for them, I challenge you to go out and try a pair that fit properly (may I suggest Long and Lean from the GAP). You will be amazed.

You could even do curvy, if youre a baby that got's some back! ;)

I also reccomend Levi's 518 & 519's. I  them!

Exactly. If people did that, then the muffin tops that this thread is referring to wouldn't be an issue!

My favorite brand now is Lucky Brand. Expensive but particularly good if you are a curvy lady. And they have a TON of different styles that would fit nearly anyone (unless super straight figures) I don't care for Gap stuff... only the skirts fit (everything else causes major gap in the back for me).

It isn't all about the right size either. It is the right style. If you are curvy, a lot of brands will not work. If you are straight, Juniors in almost any brand is what one should look at.

I found that Levis, American Eagle, Calvin Klein, Lee and Old Navy are good for regular to straight figured women.
Tommy Hilfigger, Lucky and only one style at Old Navy are good for people with a curvy figure.
Gap is good for most average, though real curves need to look elsewhere.

So it isn't just size, it is cut and brand. And really low isn't good on anyone with a lot of curves, but usually low rise to a medium low rise is decent for everyone.

Truthfully I wish average length skirts would come back. I don't have much trouble with those. Jeans are nearly impossible :p

Low rise jeans doesn't mean only one rise, there are several rises. I wear the ones that go up to below the belly button and I love the way they look on me. Forget mom jeans, those feel like they keep going up and up and up...

The whole muffin top thing is when women are one size, but are determined to get themselves into jeans or shorts that are clearly not their correct size, as in way too small. The girls in the pics are not overweight, but their jeans/pants are choking their bottoms. :sad2: If that's the look they are going for, then good for them. But anyway you look at it, it's just not flattering.

The store is called "Gap" for a reason! ;)

I had to go and check out Lucky brand jeans (online). Whoa baby, those are some expensive jeans! I thought my Ralph Laurens and Calvin Kleins cost a lot! :faint:

Oh they sure do!!! That would be why I only have three pairs ;) But they fit me like a glove and are hand made in the USA. They really are good quality and they hold up and look far better than any other brand I used to wear. Trust me, I gave up before I decided to look.

Of course if you want a real fainter, try out True Religion Jeans ;)

You reminded me, Ralph Lauren is also a brand for straighter figures. I swear I know too much about too many brands out there :p I tried nearly everything that was $100 and lower.

You had me laughing about Gap though. What is funny is I own 5 pairs of skirts from them. All fit great. You put me in shorts and pants and I look awful!!!!

yes I do have this

I have lost a lot of weight recently and have saggy hanging skin on my belly and flanks and hips.

I was 170 at one point.

I have worked really hard and exercise daily and am at 125 and 5'3... I have had three kids and c sections...I could loose about 10 more but I am a good weight. I can't buy bigger sz low rise because my legs and rear end and thighs are small and I have very narrow hips just a lot of skin there now....

I am having a tummy tuck and lipo on my flanks and small amnts on my hips this month

say good bye muffin top and HELLO bikini, low rise jeans and Victoria Secret goddies!!

That's funny-- Gap jeans are really the only brand I've ever found that fit me. The biggest thing is that they are actually long enough for me (I need a 34" or 36" inseam), but I've also never had a problem with a gap in the back. I have several pairs of their long and leans and even curvy style! I get compliments on them all the time.

I went to a jeans boutique with a friend of mine last year, where nothing was under $100. I couldn't find a single pair in the shop that came in a long enough length.
