Lack of Hopping on advanced FP+ is messing me up!

We tour like this:
Rope Drop
Lunch break at resort / nap / swim
Back to parks around 4-5 (usually not the same park as the morning park)

My optimal FP strategy:
Rope Drop or mEMH
Ride headliners early
Get 1 or 2 FP+ rides in between 10:30 and 12:30
Leave park by 12:30
Use third FP+ upon arrival at second park that afternoon

then begin to add more fastpasses....

Instead we are now forced to either use 3 FP+s in the late morning before we break for lunch OR use them all when we return in the evening, which delays our chace of the additional FP+.

We are going around July 4th - Max Crowd levels. Two adults, two 16 yr olds.

Would you use your 3 FP+s in late morning or late afternoon/early evening?:confused3

Now I am questioning if we can even do this? Can we FP+ in the morning, then hope to another park and start to add more FP+s that evening? Or do ALL of our FPs (pre-arranged and the day-of added) need to be in the SAME park. Will fastpass+ see us as "assigned" to a park for that day and that's it?

If you choose to use your first three at your first park, you can hop and obtain one Fp+ at a kiosk. After you use that Fp+, you can obtain another at the kiosk, and so on...

If it were me, I'd take advantage of the lower crowds at rope drop and not use a fastpass then. I would utilize your fastpasses at your second park. You'll be going at a very busy time. I think it will be hard to get all the fastpasses you'll want when you hop into your second park. You'll still be able to get a lot done in the morning at your first park, but reserving your fastpasses at the second park will guarantee that you you'll get to ride the rides you want without a huge wait. During that busy 4th of July week, who knows if you'd be able to obtain a 4th fastpass for what you want or for a time that you'd want; you might have a really late return time on your 4th fastpass and not be able to get a 5th one.

Bliss, Thanks. You just wrote what I was thinking after posting this. I agree after reading other threads.

  • Rope Drop
  • Headliners
  • by 10:30-11 start doing the non-headliners
  • by 12:30 leave park
  • Back to new park at 4 (I have my FP+s starting between 3:40-4:40) and pushed them right up against each other so I am done by 7)
  • FP whatever else we can and/or ride non-headliners as the very little kiddies go home for dinner/bed

Itinkso, that was my other thought but I worry after reading that so many people weren't able to get good FPs later in the day. Thanks for your thoguhts as well. So much to figure out :) (love your name, BTW!)

Thanks! :) If I were hopping, I'd pre-select for the second park. If your second park is tiered, you can always let two Fp+ expire while you are in your first park, ride the Tier 1 ride as soon as you enter the 2nd park and try for another Tier 1 as your 4th Fp+. This works if you really don't care about any Tier 2 rides.

Now that we can get more fp's, it is a little better but we can't use the MDE app on our phones, right? That means the headliners will most likely not be available later in the day. It is the tiering system that is messing us up.. especially in Epcot because there is just not enough rides and we'll have to go back another day to do both TT and Soarin unless we wait standby, which we could but we just don't like wasting time in long lines. Maelstrom should not be tiered with TT and Soarin.. We usually never need a fp to do that one. But we will make it all work I guess.

Correct, for now, you have to obtain the 4th or later Fp+ at the kiosk or from a Fp+ iPad CM. But, once you have it, you can manipulate it via your app - time change, ride change etc.

I think you've got a great plan!

I couldn't agree more. I've been thinking exactly the same thing as I've been trying to plan and book my FP+s this week.
