Lack of FP+ options

I guess I just don't get this. SDD has long been one of the hottest FPs. MFSR and MMRR are of course huge. FOP has long been impossible to get day 1 or 2 or even 3 sometimes. Tons of people rebooking, plus this week being the week the original free dining starts? I just can't get behind it being so out of the norm.

You can not equate FOP to the Tier 1 at HS it is a totally different scenario. It is 3 vs 1. People are willingly fighting for their preference at HS not one is fighting for Navi at AK. That is why FOP will continue to be hard well into the future.

This 100%. I would rather ride POTC than Navi any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I’m probably the only person who’s main goal is getting Dinosaur. You’re all welcome. 😉

Today was my day 60. I’m 99% sure I’m cancelling, so I didn’t bother to make any fp’s, I just looked around at availability during the first week.

Epcot had availability at all rides day 1.
Seven Dwarves, first availability, 60+4
Mickeys Railway, Smugglers, Slinky Dog, Avatar, first availability, 60+5, which is July 3rd.

And yet even with Ride #1 (RotR) off the table at DHS, the next 3 biggest rides still sold out daily before the 30 day FP window. I checked all the time and could never get Slinky, MMRR, or MFSR at 30 days or day of. Am I to believe that those 3 rides have a lower capacity COMBINED than FoP? I'm slightly excited to see what social distancing they use when the park opens because maybe they will eliminate FP and you'll finally be able to ride all 4 rides in that park in the same day without getting really lucky or waiting in multiple hours for queues.

I still go back to my comment from several pages ago that I am pretty well convinced that MFSR and MMRR are materially impacted by 1) they aren't starting FP distribution before 10:30am and 2) I'm not convinced Disney had even come close to "maximizing" FPs for either ride, especially MMRR. They were just tip-toeing into operations with MMRR specifically. Random drops of large chunks of FP availability were also occurring, hours changes were also adding to supply. We're also at a point now where we're getting a lot more experience with how DHS FP booking will look/feel with the new tiers - this was a story that had just started to be written before the closure.

I don't go so far as to say there isn't something going on as there certainly could be, but I’m not entirely surprised at the DHS tier 1 FPs being so hard to get as I suspect supply was pretty thin even before all of this.

Well I got on promptly at 7am to get my FP's for our short stay (arriving 21, no park. Parks 22-25)

I typically prefer TP's Fastpass availability, it was great for showing times, but it is not up and running. I used the Dibb and knew MMRR was going to be out, and to focus on FOP on our last day before it was gone.

Day 1, 6/22: Epcot. Living with the Land, Frozen, Mission Space. Frozen and Mission are early afternoon. I wish I could have snagged an earlier Mission Space, but I couldn't. If I find an earlier TT I will switch to that over Frozen.

Day 2, 6/23: MK. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, SDMT. I got SDMT but it is at 7:35pm. I am not going all day in regular standby to use the third, so unless I can get a better time, I will change it on our park day. FYI, no Big Thunder FP's at all during any days of my trip.

Day 3, 6/24: HS. RNR, TSMM, SDD. SDD is so late (7pm) it is another one we may dump day of. RNR and TSMM are late morning. I am mostly disappointed in no MMRR. I had that for our spring break trip. :sad1: Of course, I checked incessantly this morning after I booked all my days (that took all of 5 minutes) and the Dibb was on point. MMRR was gone. (fwiw, I got a 2pm MMRR on 60+2 on our April trip.)

Day 4, 6/25: AK. EE, Kilimanjaro Safari, FOP. Another super late FP for FOP (7:10pm) UGH! It is frustrating.

I know several people on here will say I did good considering the short trip. The only caveat is that as an experienced short trip person, at 60+ days out I have never had to deal with all of these late FP's for top rides. We never do standby lines that have a wait over 15-20 minutes. The late FP's change our entire strategy. I am not sure how we are going to tackle this. (My guess dump the headliners and pray to get it on the 4th, 5th, 6th FP.)

IDK, this whole thing was likely for naught as I am beginning to feel the parks won't be open. But I still contend they are severely limiting FP's. I could understand an afternoon FP for MMRR or FOP, but not evening. And I have never had to go past 10am for SDMT, not even when it was new. :confused3 It is what it is. I will keep checking -- I've got time. But no doubt, selections are not as plentiful as they typically are.

Quick update on my FP's.

I check several times daily when I have a few minutes. I actually saw a MFSR once on the 21st (right now it is a non-park day for us, but I was playing. If it was MMRR I think our plans would've changed. We have been on MFSR twice at DLR, so it isn't a huge deal to us if we miss it.)

Day 1, slightly improved FEA FP time. We always did single rider for TT, but I wonder if it will be open? :confused3 I will switch to TT if I can get a good time. Mission Space, still no change.

Day 2, improved SDMT to mid-late afternoon instead of evening. Still not happy with that time, but I'll keep checking. Baby steps.

Day 3, Improved RNR time to early morning, TSMM is still at early afternoon, I think I improved it by 15 minutes. SDD is now late afternoon, 4:45pm. Much later than I'd like. The pursuit is still on.

Day 4, my biggest score. FOP at noon. That one had my heart racing! LOL.

It is improving, but definitely still a work in progress. However, it is nice to see that positive changes keep coming if you're persistent.

Even if this trip never comes to be, the hunt for FP's has been a fun challenge for me. :) Just getting on the website or app in hopes of a trip makes me happy.

I was able to snag a FP for Smugglers Run on our DHS day (6/12). I gave up RNRC, but I figure we can use the single-rider line. Unless they don't use SR lines for social distancing reasons. Then I guess we'll just wait it out.

I finally was able to move up our Space Mtn FP to an earlier time than 8:55 pm. I've adjusted a few other times here and there but I'm pretty happy with what we have.

Still no luck with FOP, but I'm still checking. A slot for Na'vi River Journey showed up for me today, but we'd rather have FOP.

I think single rider lines will probably go away for a while due to the current situation. I'm thinking about booking a TT FP for an upcoming solo trip.

yesterday was my FP window for 6/28 to 7/4. Didn't get any headliners even with a six night trip. Pretty disappointing but not surprised. Not sure if I will even keep this trip. My daughter in law doesn't want to leave her house period, can't imagine getting her to Disney.

I tried to get FOP for 60+5 which is our last full day, July 3rd and nothing. I was on right at 7am too. :confused3

I probably could have changed things to get Seven Dwarves but since we probably won't go I didn't feel like it. ;)

My fastpass window opened yesterday morning for June 28-July 2 and I was up and on the site right when it opened. But I had trouble getting anything for a party of three and I started with the last day of my trip and worked up to the first day. This was all within the first five minutes that FP options opened. I will just keep checking. I might be cancelling anyway, once I hear more of the conditions and what things will be available or limited when Disney does open up.

AK - No availability for FOP on any day, any time
HS - No availability for MMRR, Slinky Dog, Millenium
MK - No availability for Seven Dwarfs or Big Thunder Mountain (I did get Peter Pan for 6:05 pm)

Our trips are scheduled for the exact same days and sounds like we both will probably be cancelling. Sad since I have not been back for SIX YEARS and I was really looking forward to this trip. I REALLY HATE to let it go! UGG!! :eeyore:

How many in your party? We are a party of four. The FOP I could get at 60+5 was in the evening.

It really does make staying on site feel worthless when you can’t get the popular rides 60 days out on 3 or 4 day trips.

Same here for Jun 26-8... my Peter Pan availability was 9:30pm which is after bedtime .

Our trip is one day off from yours (29th- 3rd) and I had the same experience with FP's. I used the same strategy as well... started with the last day and worked up. FOP was really the only one that we wanted for sure. Hoping something pops up, though I am not good about going back and checking. We may cancel, as well. Waiting to hear the final decisions that will affect our trip before deciding.

All of you who have trips around June 29-July 3 are in unique situations based on how the 4th of July holiday falls. Many people who are going that week are arriving earlier than you and staying longer so if they are also back loading their trip for certain parks (like seems to be the trend) they have already gobbled up the FP+ for those certain parks before you can use your 60+3/4 advantage because they were at 60+6/7 instead. It is just bad luck based on how the weeks falls. I do not believe those days are indicative of a trend. People have had some success at 60+3/4 (not ideal times) for those same certain parks on previous weeks.
