I fly home to South Korea on either the 4th or the 7th of Sept. From LA. I am thinking if it's the 7th, we could spend Sunday and Monday in the 2 parks and I could give my kids a "last hurrah" before heading back. So how bad will it be Labor day weekend. Tolerable bad, or save your money and forget the whole thing bad?

Honestly, it is luck of the draw with that weekend. We have been there a couple of times during that first week in September. Sometimes it is dead, but hot, and other times it is pretty busy. Overall though, it is completely doable. GO FOR IT.

we have been a few times over Labor Day and it has always been crazy busy over that weekend and on that monday but right after it dies way down!!!!

I did not go last year but was in the parks the prior 2 years running the DLR Half Marathon. Both times, I was surprised at how empty the parks were! By about 11:30 on Sat morning we had done every major ride! The park does open one hour later on Sunday because of the race and traffic getting to the resort early that morning is a mess so make sure you stay either onsite or within walking distance so you don't have to deal with the traffic.

I asked the CM the last time I ran the race why Disney did it on Labor Day weekend - I thought that it would be a busy time at the parks. The CM said that Labor is not normally very busy - most kids have gone back to school so not many people from out of the area and the locals avoid it because of the race.

BTW, I will agree that it is usually very hot that weekend!

Cool!! Thanks so much for the info everybody. We can get there Sat afternoon, and spend Sunday and Monday in the parks. I found flights from LAX to South Korea at 11:30 PM Mon night. I'm thinking if 2 days at Disney doesn't get my kids to just "sleep it out" on that 11 hour flight nothing will!!!

I've gone the last 2 years and quite enjoy Labor Day weekend. The parks are busy, but I've been there during far busier times. Just have a good plan for dealing with possible large crowds and you'll be fine.

We were in the parks last Labor Day weekend, and it was better than I expected. Sunday night was packed, but early Monday morning was wonderful! The park opened at 8, we were among the first in, and had done all the big stuff we wanted to by 1pm. Naptime, then DCA in the afternoon, and it was a lovely day.
