We're trying to plan our itinerary and we're having a hard time figuring out what to do over Labor Day weekend, as park hours have not been posted yet. Has anybody been over Labor Day and, if so, was there anything unusual going on?

We're staying from the 30th of Aug to the 9th of Sept. We have the sunrise safari booked for the 31st, but other than that I'm having a difficult time figuring the rest out!

I'm there during Labor Day every year and it's great~! The parks are still crazy since the school kids are still out but it's fun! They have lots of stuff, and just check on the special events link at WDW (official site) and it tells you what and where it's all happening at!

Have fun!

I will be there over Labor Day weekend for the first time too, been many times the week after Labor Day..crowds disappear tuesday....poof....pixie dust carries them home and the parks are wonderfully empty....See ya there..

Thanks for the replies! Where are you staying, Blueberry? We'll be at AKL from 8/30 to 9/9. Have you started to plan your week?

We will be there for Labor Day also. I am not sure what is going on, if anything, for the holiday. The only thing that I do know is that I will be in Epcot on Labor Day, don't think that I want to do MK on that day. We are staying at BWV from 8/31 - 9/8. Lucky for us, school doesn't start until 9/9 so we decided to take advantage of the "off-season" without missing any school.

Can't wait :Pinkbounc !

I'm wondering if Labor Day itself (Monday) will be less crowded due to people returning home on that day. I think I'm more worried about Saturday and Sunday. I did read on these boards that Sunday of Labor Day weekend last year was VERY crowded at Epcot. I think you'll be okay in Epcot on Monday carone0318. I'm wondering if we should go to MGM or AK over the weekend, or just try MK or Epcot in the morning. I'm not sure if the water parks would be any better.

I have to admit, call me whacko, but I am planning on being in MK on that Sat over the holiday weekend. Until they come out with the official hours, I am going off of last year's hours and last year MK was open until 11pm. I am assuming that they will have the parade and everything and I want to be there. Crazy, I know  !

These are my preliminary plans for the holiday weekend:

Fri - ILs want to take us to Sea World, DTD in evening
Sat - MK breakfast at Kona Cafe & dinner at LTT
Sun - MK but after character breakfast at Cape May Cafe
Mon - AK in morning & Epcot in afternoon, Le Cellier for dinner

This could change of course....

You'll love Sea World (went last year); it's a more relaxing atmosphere and can be done in a day. If MK is open that late on Saturday, we may end up there as well. It's a catch-22 for me, because I like the energy of the busier times, but I also like being able to move! We'll probably experience a little of both given that we'll be there before, during, and after the weekend. At least you have some preliminary plans! I'm stymied right now!

Last time I was at Sea World was back in 1994 when we were down there for the World Cup (soccer.) I am figuring that a lot has changed since then. The only reason that I have some plans is because I have to make my PSs. I am going to call today to do that.

We have to make our PSs too, but with the end-of-school rush (kids are out on Thursday!) I haven't been able to concentrate on making decisions. Maybe I should get off these addictive boards and make some arrangements!

This will be our only day we can see Wishes and Spectro and I just reserved yesterday the Wishes Cruise for 9/4! I was thinking after I did the reservation that we would miss Spectro but don't they show it twice if the parks are open late? This is my group's first time and I would love for them to see Spectro. Does anyone know? TIA

I did receive an email from a CM stating that traditionally the Magic Kingdom is open until 11:00 on the 4th (Sat of LB weekend) and 10:00 on the 5th (Sunday), but I'm not sure about Spectro showing twice on those nights. I hope you're right msr709, and congratulations on snagging a Wishes cruise!

Thanks for the info flyball and I have been at WDW in the middle of the summer when the parks are open that late and they usually have 2 showings of the night parade, I hope they do it for Labor Day. My very first visit to WDW was at the same time your trip is and it was great because the crowds were very light, we walked on to practically everything and we saw everything at least twice and we were staying at a DTD hotel! You should have a great time. Have fun! :teeth:
