Labor Day Hours - Will They Get Extended?

hi everyone!

I may be taking a last minute trip down for Labor Day weekend. All 4 parks close at 9 on Labor Day which seems early to me, but I've never been at that time of year before.

Do you all think they will get extended?

Oh, figure 1-3 weeks in advance... but it can be as late as the day-of.
There are no rules about these things.

I've been waiting and hoping for this extension. I feel like last year it was extended by now, but I didn't note when the change happened so I can't be sure. I am hoping for MK until 11 at least.

I doubt it at this point. Over the past few years, they were usually updated a before I did fast passes 2 months before.

Yeah, but the trend is towards less and less notice on hours. Over the past few years I've always had a calendar and EMH schedule in time to plan my ADRs; this year, I don't. The 6-months-out calendars went away, the Disney site is unveiling hours one day at a time at the 180 mark, preliminary calendars don't have all the EMH or evening entertainment on them, and final updates are coming closer and closer to the actual travel dates.

Yes, I never had it to plan ADR, I had to guess, but it was updated by the fast pass 2 month mark. Judging by what they are doing over summer, I would bet hours won't be updated. Maybe 10pm close.

i figured in the next 2 weeks if they extend them. I too am hoping for MK to get the extra hour on non party nights.

I also heard the rumor that a CM told someone that IF late August and September hours are going to get extended, it'll most likely happen during the second week of August. Weeeeeee'll see!

If the hours DON'T get extended, isn't that GOOD news for people (like me) who are visiting that weekend, since it means that the expected capacity isn't that high?

Not necessarily. WDW has not seem inclined to do late hours in all the parks this summer and has been seemingly shifting night resources/budget over to AK. I'm thinking if they do announce September hour extensions, it will be a continuation of the nightly AK EMH. I sure hope so because AK closing 1 1/2 hours after sunset gives next to no time to see Pandora at night, especially if you go to a nighttime show.

We just got back last week and were very disappointed in the shortened hours everywhere. We found ourselves back in our rooms early each evening when in past trips we would have been in the parks. Even the stores at DS were shutting their doors at 11:00 pm. Went to try and get something to eat one day at Pizza Rizzo and it was closed at 5:00 PM! I sent an email to Guest Relations expressing our disappointment with the early closures and did receive a call back. They blamed the MK early closure on the survey work being done after hours for Tron. They used the same answers for the construction in the other parks. Not sure I believe it though.

MK is likely. For our trip this month they just extended the evening by an extra hour, but the other parks didn't change.
