Labor Day crowds?

How is the weekend of Labor Day? Comparable to regular summer crowds or worse? Similar to Christmas crowds or less?

Thanks for any insight!

Nothing like Christmas, but still the same large summer crowds. Usually a very crowded weekend but still not the Christmas crowd madness.

Should we be OK if we go the following weekend? We're having a tough time trying to squeeze in a quick get away... I really want smaller crowds so we can get in all the thrill rides since we'll be without the kids.

Thanks!

From what I have read I agree. But the week after THanxgiving up to the week before Christmas are very low. We can't wait. Woohoo

Can it be December yet?

I spoke with a few people who went this weekend last year. Sat is fairly busy but Sun and Mon the crowds die down big time. I heard no wait for ANYTHING at Magic Kingdom last Labor Day.

Most schools are back in then so no one is taking long trips and most weekenders will leave Mon am. If you can - stay an extra day or so after. The week after Labor Day is the second slowest week of the year - no lines at all!!

Can't comment on Labor Day itself, but we went to MK the day after Labor Day last year and had no wait over 2 minutes for anything except Space Mountain (5 minutes), meeting Mickey in Toontown (5 minutes), Jungle Cruise (5 minutes), food at Cosmic Ray's (5 minutes), and Haunted Mansion (10 minutes). Nearly anywhere there was a daunting line, FastPass was available and worked, the exceptions being AstroOrbiter (pretty much always a line) and IndySpeedway (ditto). We did everything we wanted and at our own pace, no rushing at all. Same thing the next day at D-MGM-- longest wait was 5 minutes for RockRollercoaster. Wait for Tower-- 0 minutes.

With Labor Day a few days later this year and closer to many schools' fall breaks, it will probably be even less crowded than last year, although they are offering a lot of resort deals to lure folks in.

The main thing-- use the Fast Pass. The wait for Peter Pan* was near 30 minutes for those without FP in late afternoon, but we waited maybe 2-3 minutes in the FP line.

We are going earlier this year (last of August) and hoping the crowds won't be too much bigger, as we are now spoiled by zero waiting times :)

*edit--originally wrote "Snow White", but realized it was "Peter Pan"

Anyone know about the Sunday after Night of Joy which last night is the 10th? We're now looking at that Sunday the 11th thru 14th instead. Will the parks be busy cause of leftover crowds from that? Or are they usually heading back out?

Thanks everyone!

BurkeTribe, your observation about low crowds the day AFTER Labor Day is music to my ears. I am taking my 2 boys (ages 5 and 3) for a quick 1.5 day WDW jaunt on the day after Labor Day. It's good to know that the crowds should be on the tame side. We last went in April, after Easter and Spring breaks were all over and we had very manageable crowds, so it's good to know we can expect more of the same. Thanks.

I was in the MK the day after Night of Joy in 2001, this was pre 9/11 so the crowd level was not affected by that..no problems at all, normal sunday morning there. Go and enjoy that sunday!! However, we did notice very large crowds in MK (Only!!) the days of Night of Joy, as the kids arrive early I guess and some spend the whole day at MK....:sunny:
