That, I suppose is the crux. Some people don't think momentary separation is a nightmare scenario.But as others pointed out, sometimes the unthinkable happens and you still get separated. This is a nightmare scenario for any parent.
How you react in that situation is the crux. Some people think the worst, others remain calm.
Children periodically wander short distances. If you take that as a given, then it isn't cause for panic when it happens.
My 5 year old clams up when he is afraid. If he was lost , I would not be surprised if he refused to talk. The tag on the shoe is a good idea. And we may do that. But what I would love to see is the Nexcare quality bandage with printed phone number! Our boys LOVE bandages. They wear them all the time for fashion.
