Does anyone out there have any information about tour compaines doing tours of LA? I went to www.anaheimoc.org and got some compaines listed, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a great company, or one to avoid. My daughter has decided it might be fun to do some type of tour of the famous sights of LA while we're there. It looks like it could be fun and since we don't have a car, a tour company would be the way to go. So if anyone can help me out, let me know! We'll be coming in July the 13-18th and have 2 adults, 2 kids 14, 11 in the group.

Well I was just in LA in April. If u go down to the Hollywood Walk of Fame they have a Starline ticket booth there. They offer several different tours of LA and Hollywood. Starline also has several different employees standing on the walk of fame and they pretty much attack u and offer u deals if u decide to go on a tour. I believe they have a website. In my opinion the tour was ok. Nothing spectacular. Hope this helps.

Any other suggestions for family with 6yr old in tow to sight see? Going down Rodeo just won't cut it and the bar scene is more like monkey bars...

We used Tony the Limo King for a private car-tour of Hollywood / LA just a week ago. We booked the 5-hour tour in the 6-person limo (which was the same fare as the town car would have been). When we called, we spoke directly to Tony, and then a few days before our trip, Sarah called to verify / confirm that we were still planning on our tour. They did not bill us until the day of the tour, and they gave us the option of paying cash or having it put on our credit card.

We were picked up at our hotel and had a good tour of the area. We got to see what we wanted to see and skip parts we weren't interested in in order to give us a little more time in other places. We would use them again. We had done a Grayline tour several years ago but for our purposes this trip, we didn't want an all-day-on-a-bus tour, so this worked out well for us.

P.S. One of the highlights for us was having the time on Hollywood Blvd to see Walt Disney's star as well as have ice cream at the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store which is adjacent to the El Capitan. We were there while a movie was still showing (UP) so it wasn't real busy, but the movie let out and it got busy quick. Here are a couple of pics from our visit.

Cindy D.,
Do you mind me asking how much the Tony Limo King tour cost?
Thank you!

Thanks for the info so far. How do I find out more about Tony the Limo King? I googled, but didn't get a site for him, just some reviews ect.

No problem - it was $300 for a 5-hour tour for a towncar/sedan or their 6-person limo. We did the 6 person limo which was an older model and gold (it used to be part of the MGM Grand's fleet in Las Vegas). None of us had ever been in a limo before so we didn't care - it was fun! Gratuity is expected at 20% and they will go ahead and include that when they run your credit card (which they don't until the day before and only if you've told them to do that - Sarah said that some people just prefer to pay with cash). Anything over 5 hours is $60/hour. Our tour ended up being nearly 7 hours from door to door - they had billed us $360 and our driver didn't say anything about the extra time, but he had given us such a great tour that we went ahead and paid for the extra time in cash (or maybe it will go straight to the driver - I don't know how they work that out but it was worth it to us).

If you go to the website listed above, scroll down and you'll see what they include in the Grand Hollywood tour - that's the one we did. We were able to alter it a little bit and what was nice is that we could spend a little more time at a stop if we wanted or less. We opted to spend enough time at the Hollywood Blvd stop to get ice cream at the Disney soda shop.

Thank you, Cindy. For a party of 3, that sounds a little bit steep. Now, when you have 5 or 6 people, it seems more economical. Thanks again for the info. When we go next week, if we hook up with some more people from the half marathon that would be interested, I might try giving Tony a call. Right now, it's just my parents and me.
