Hi

We only have one day in LA but there are specific things we'd like to do. Please can you give me your thoughts/suggestions on the current plan and any other things you would suggest fitting in? Thanks

The main places we want to visit are:

- The Disney Studios in Burbank. I'm a cast member so we can go in, wander around, visit the archives and shop. I'm allowing a good 2 hours here because we've spent that time there before & I'm going with someone who has never been. Also we can eat lunch if hungry.

- Mann's Chinese Theatre / Disney Soda Cafe diagonally opposite. We just want to see the walk of stars outside, the handprints and pop into the soda place.

- Griffith Observatory. Just for the views of the Hollywood sign and city. I know it's a great place to visit properly but we don't have time.

- Rodeo Drive. Nope, not shopping lol I wish I could afford that but we'd like to take photos of the sign, maybe pop into the lobby of the Regent Beverley Wiltshire opposite.

- Venice Beach. Just to visit the 'Baywatch' beach :D

- Torrance High School. As Buffy fans we just want to stand outside and take photos :) So as long as it's still light enough, I'm not bothered about the time of day.

We're starting off at a hotel near Glendale/Burbank and ending up by driving down to Anaheim/Disneyland.

I've been to LA several times but my travelling buddy has never been. The list above are his wishes cause I was happy to go anywhere.

This is the plan as I have it right now

I thought it would be fun to drive along part of Mulholland drive too and maybe pop up to Bel Air just to take a photo of a sign. Can anyone help with suggestions there? Maybe also stop by Santa Monica Pier?

I'd love to add some cheesy 'stars homes' too but I doubt will have time.

Is this doable? Am I missing anything major? Can anyone offer suggestions on where to park? Or what we might also see/visit on or near the routes?

Any help is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

You will have a very busy day, but it is possible to do all if you are just "stopping by" each spot and not walking around ( ex.,Griffith Observatory).

Travel day and time of day are going to be important factors. You don't want to get caught up in Friday afternoon traffic! That could take up a substantial amount of time. Have fun!

Thank you :) It's going to be Monday 23rd September. We drive back through LA on Sunday 29th but we're driving from anaheim to San Fran that day so I don't wanna be trying to do lots in LA too.

Are you having someone who works on the Lot sign you in? As of about 2008, they no longer allow anyone with a CM badge onto the lot. You must be a guest of a current Disney Studios employee.

Oh no, but that's very odd because we visited with no issues in september 2009 :confused3

Maybe I'm mixing my trips up... It could have been 2010. Or maybe they changed it back, its been about a year since I've been up there. Anyway, be prepared that you might not get in without a sign on.

As much as I like your enthusiasm I really don't think you'll have time to visit all these places unless you plan on just driving by a few. I would cut out a few of these locations just so you can explore the others a little more.

Yes, what he said. Maybe have your friend prioritize the list and drop a thing or two. Any traffic or parking issues and that plan will need major changing. Hopefully, neither happens to you.

As a couple others said, you probably need to cut two stops. If they end up not letting you in the Lot and you get an early start, it should be doable. I usually pack in my days though and most people can't keep up with me (for example, my husband and I go to Dland from 8a-12a without a break).

If you were going the week before, I'd suggest Walt's Barn, which is just on the other side of Griffith Park. Nice place for Disney and/or train enthusiasts. It's only open the 3rd Sunday of the month though.

Since you are into movie spots, be sure to check out OnLocationVacations.com that morning to see if there will be any filming near your route.

I'll keep it in mind, thank you but I'm hoping it's not an issue now. It's odd cause my HR team have confirmed that we can go in with our IDs...I checked after seeing your post. Thanks for the warning though just in case. We MAY actually now be meeting Dave Smith there so I guess that would help :)

Thank you for the advice guys :thumbsup2. I do tend to pack things in. I never do 'chilled' holidays lol and many of the things on the list we do only wanna take a photo of, not stop for long so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I've got a few different plans now after your advice, so we can adjust depending on time issues, etc. We come back through LA a week later so I guess we could do something then if we need too. Thanks
