I hate to point out by Circus is a perfect live show for Walt Disney World and its live theater. But to answer why no musical theater. First theater is expensive to produce. Billy Elliot cost 20 million to produce on Broadway. And Disney is expensive enough. Also there is so much to do that I doubt a family would pay 400 dollars (rough est) to see a show during WDW. And it would eat into the Broadway Market. Having Tony Awards brought Disney credibility to the Theater Community and I doubt they will send the production to a place that might not even see the show. But Cirque Du Soleli won the Drama Desk Award for several shows and to dismiss that as not theater rubbed me the wrong way
