L&M car rental - looking for reviews

L&M has rates so low that they seem too good to be true. Are they?

Has anyone used this company and can they reccommend them? Or are they not a good company to do business with?

I had a reservation with them for August - so I would be interested if you do end up using them to know what you think of them. They were about 70% cheaper than the next lowest priced car in the airport.

PS - Looks like you will be leaving Buffalo, while I will be busing into Lafayette Court during tomorrow's predicted bad weather!

Do a search on the transporation board... but generally speaking they do not have a good reputation. (check Mousesavers).

We rented from them 3 years ago and would NEVER EVER rent from them again nor would we recommend them to anyone we knew! And it still makes me mad to think about it!!
Here's a VERY BRIEF synopsis of our rental experience with them: Mini-Van promised, then not available at pick-up time. Not only PUSHY about accepting their insurance - very RUDE!! Also added on $$ for misc. services to our final bill. Time wasted for this ordeal over 2 hours in their rental office. Then we fought with their Corp office to have the $$ for 'add ons' credited back to us for 6 months! Had we been by ourselves, my DH and I would have just taken a taxi and picked up a car at National or something.. but there were 7 of us (kids, etc)... so we were tired, cranky, etc.

So my advice - DON'T DO IT! No matter how good of a price they quote you - JUST SAY NO!!!!!!

I rented from them twice last year. Great service, no problems, no hard sell. Easy pick up and drop off. I will rent from them again.

The situation was that we had already booked a car for midway through our stay because someone else had one but would be leaving before us. That person almost wasn't able to come, so we were having to find something last minute to pick up at the airport for the entire trip.

But everything worked out, and we'll be picking up mid-week at the Doubletree Suites on Hotel Plaza Blvd.

So even though I won't be using them this time, I'll consider them. One bad experience sounds like the company may have had some bad employees. I won't say I wasn't warned though if something bad does happen!

Rented a Minivan, Villager. No problems very quick. Brought insurance info and it was no problem. Drop off was easy. Quote from on-line was correct. I have them booked this year as well $200 for the week compared to over $400 elseware. Now even there rates are up higher. I had read some bad reviews but am willing to try them again as they were fine.

As I mentioned in my post - we rented from them 3 years ago. Sounds like they have cleaned up their act a bit - and I'm glad for everyone getting a good deal out there. But it will take a lot more good reviews before I ever go near them again.

An update on this situation!

Due to a cancelled flight, I had an extra night in Orlando. We first tried to get a car from budget, but they told us everything was sold out. L&M told us they had a car as we walked past, so we went back over to them.

If I were to use them I'd have a reservation, because they were expensive! $56 for one night! But the car was clean, as everyone said, no hard sells, and pick up and drop off went smoothly.

I would definitely try them again!

We have used L&M rental twice. We didn't have any problems with them. We got a great rate both times. They weren't pushy at all. We were even in a small accident with the car we rented and they were great about it no problems at all. The best part is they are located right at the airport. Some other companies have counters in the airport but then you still need a shuttle to get you to the cars. Not L&M, just walk across the street and take the elevator to the second floor get in your car and your off.

We got a Villager last Feb. It was a great price and we had absolutely no hassles. Also there was no wait at the counter. I'm going to use them again.
