L.L. Bean backpacks?

Could they not look up the info and process it for you?

LL Bean can not look up your card and process it. I use to work at the call center. The credit card company is not run by LL Bean and we had no credit card info stored....to prevent any kind of fraud.

Good idea, but too late now. They already cancelled the old card, and are sending out a new one. I checked my coupon though, and I have a couple of weeks until it expires, so I ought to have time.

I am not positive, but you can call and ask....I believe that there is a 7 day grace period on expired Beans cash that you earn with the credit card if that is what you are talking about. If you have lost your Beans cash coupons that come with your credit card statement you can also just call the catalog # and ask if you have any Beans cash on your account. They can tell you how much is available, that they do keep on file.

I would check with your school before considering wheels. My DS7's elementary school prohibits them unless they needed for documented reasons.

I got my son the deluxe for 2nd grade this year and it was wonderful! I wanted something that he would be able to use for a long time since they are supposed to last forever. I recently ordered him an Explorer for 3rd grade when it was 1/2 price so we would have options. Both are monogrammed with his initials.

Here is a hint with the LL Bean coupons:

If they are getting close to expiring, call the call center and order LL Bean gift cards with them (you can order gift cards in any amount so order whatever you have for coupon dollars). You'll then either get a code emailed or get a giftcard sent (can't remember which if you call in instead of go to the store), then you have a NON-expiring giftcard! :)

My kids are in high school now and still carry LLBean backpacks. Any time I bought backpacks other than Lands' End or LLBean, I soon regretted it.

When they were in pre-school I bought them the small Lands' End ones and I believe those made it well past first grade. I think the size was just right at that time. They can get super heavy if too much is packed in there.

That's genius!

If someone has the $10 off code it would be greatly appreciated. Please PM me I have to buy 2 lunch bags and 2 backpacks
Thanks

The Bean backpacks are the best! My DD carried one in 4th and 5th grade. When she decided she wanted a change, I took it for my computer/work bag. I've been carrying it for years and it still looks fantastic - no rips, tears, fading or broken zippers. MY DS on the other hand picked out a Star Wars backpack from Pottery Barn. What a piece of junk. I'm getting him Bean this year.;)

I have 3 in school now.. (just finished K, 2nd, and 3rd) and last year I decided to splurge and by them LL Bean backpacks. They were a little large, but they will grow into them. My kids are hard on stuff, especially my middle girl! I let them each pick out what color they wanted and got their names monogrammed (had them pick names or initials and what style.. they all chose names over initials).

Best decision that I ever made! The kids love them, they are very sturdy, and other then being a little dirty, they are in very good shape.. (reminds me, I need to wash their backpacks before school starts again!) My son is almost 3 but I think I am going to wait a little while before getting him one. Probably when he starts K.

I still have and use (!!!) my L.L. Bean backpack that I got in Middle School back in the early 90's. It took me all the way through middle, high, college, grad school, and I still use it for day outings and such. The body of the bag is indestructible, I've sent it back a few times for repairs (busted zippers and small tears), and its always come back good as new. It is guaranteed for life, and they stand by that. I would not hesitate to get one, it will last, and last, and last :)

A couple of years ago I ordered what was the then version of the Quad Backpack (has a waist strap and inside pouch for a laptop). I got it for 50% off. DS was in 2nd grade at the time. He is now going into 6th. Worth every penny. I will say that I'm glad I got this bag as it will probably carry him thru to HS if not beyond.

Holiday weekend sale started today!

OP here. Just an update on my quest to buy a backpack for DD4 who is starting pre-K this Fall...

Instead of the Original Book Pack, I ended up spending a few extra dollars and ordered the Original Plus Book Pack instead for DD. After looking at the measurements, I realized that the Original Plus was a bit shorter and narrower, but deeper. It has an extra section that fits the LL Bean lunch box (the flat one) perfectly, so it doesn't have to go in the main compartment with her folders, etc. I think this backpack will be big enough for at least all of her elementary years, but it doesn't look huge on her because it's a bit shorter in length. DD is 42" tall already (probably 43" by now), so she's already as tall as most kindergarteners.

It got delivered yesterday, and DD has been "modeling" it around the house since then. :) She loves the embroidered initials on the backpack and her lunchbox. Now, I just need to keep her out of the school supply aisles at the stores so she doesn't start asking for a Frozen or Minnie backpack that is going to fall apart within 6 months. :rotfl2:

Have you looked into PotteryBarnKids.com? PB kids backpacks last and last. My daughter is going into third grade and I still have her backpack from Pre-K (don't use it for school but for car trips, etc.) My sister has gotten some from the Disney store. Had luck with them too.

I read a couple of reviews that said the quality of the Pottery Barn backpacks has went downhill over the last couple of years, so I really didn't consider them beyond that. I really liked the look of the Land's End backpacks and lunch boxes, but the more recent reviews were bad. I'm really impressed with the quality of the LL Bean backpack that got delivered yesterday.

My DS has a Jansport backpack that he used from 6th grade through college, and he uses it now for work. I had to send it back once to get repaired right before his senior year of HS, but considering the abuse he put it through, I was really impressed. I didn't really like their current options for younger kids though.

My 7yo dd has made it through K and 1st grade with the same LL Bean backpack, and it honestly looks brand new. I don't see her style on the LL Bean website. It was smaller than the original, but a little different than the junior size. I should mention that although we have to deal with snowpants, etc. in the winter, we used a separate bag (not a backpack) for those items in order to keep everything in her backpack dry. This was such a great investment!

Edit: I just realized that it was very similar to the current Discovery backpack.

Ditto! DH and I both still have the LL Bean backpacks we got in the early 1990's when we were in middle school.
