If you've flown with a Kyss bag as a carry on have you had any issues going through airport security with the lock and chain?

I was wondering about that also so I just took the chain and lock out of the bag and put them in my checked luggage (just to be safe).

But I don't think anyone here has ever reported a problem.

Never had a problem using my KYSS bag as a carry-on. Just laid the bag on the belt and it went through the scanner...picked it up on the other side without any trouble. :thumbsup2

What size Kyss bag have you used for airline carry-on? I'd like to get one before our next cruise, but I'm not sure if I should go with the medium or large.

Thanks :)

medium is plenty big. it carried my iPad, a slotted folder i carry all my travel docs in as well as my wallet and change of clothes. it is large!! can't imagine how big the actual large is.

I got a medium one. While it obviously won't hold all of our snorkel gear for use while in port, it's still a pretty good size. It's held 3-4 towels, shoes, and various accessories. The large ones look humongous and I just didn't feel like hauling that big of a bag around all day while out and about in port.

I have the large and just used mine on a cruise last week and just today took it to Typhoon Lagoon it worked great and it saved me from renting a locker. It is big we had two towels one pair of mens tennis shoes, both sets of our clothes and we had room. I think the large is great if you are traveling with your family you can hold a lot.

Shouldn't matter if it has a lock and chain if the bag is a carryon - you just need to be able to open it if they ask to see inside it at security.

Thanks for the input of medium vs. large.

I'm leaning toward the medium based of your replies, since I would love to have the dual use of it being my carry-on bag as well.

The large size does sound great though to be able to carry snorkel gear, towels, shoes, etc.

:)

We got the large and used it on Castaway Cay, locked to the lounge chair, used it at Blizzard Beach, again tied to the chair, and used it on the cruise as well. Smaller wouldn't have worked because it wouldn't hold the towels, electronics, snacks, cover ups, etc.

I agree. It's just the 3 of us, but the large was the right size to hold towels, shoes, clothes, sunscreen, etc. I also used it as an airplane carryon and it was loaded and heavy (ipad, Nintendo DS, wallets, chargers, iPhones, paperwork, etc). I just made DH carry it :)

ETA: no problems through airport security. I just put it on the belt and picked it up on the other side w/o issue.

My kyss bag came a few days ago. I couldn't believe just how big the large bag is. It's huge. I had planned to order the medium bag but they were sold out at the time that I ordered. I think it will be perfect for our upcoming cruise though. I generally like for my beach bags to be roomy enough for towels and a change of clothes. I could carry half my stateroom in this bag. Lol.

My KYSS bag shipped yesterday! I'm so excited. :cool1: I ordered the medium in raspberry a few weeks ago and they were out of locking assemblies for all bags so it took a little longer than normal but it should be here today or tomorrow. I can't wait to try it at CC and Atlantis.

We just flew to San Antonio and used my large KYSS bag as a cary on and had no problems. I love my bag. Glad I got the large.

Hello Kyss bag owners...looking for a review of this bag.
Had no clue it existed until today. Went on their website and watched the video and checked it out.

however, would like to hear your experiences with using the bag.

As the lock looks like a cheap dollar store lock that could easily be broken in seconds.

now please no FLAME post about the following...
Also the lock "locks" the zipper of the bag closed. Just like anyone in the aviation/airlines business will tell you...all you need is a ball point pin...and you can gain access to a "locked" zipper bag.
The pen or other object is pushed through the zipper teeth...causing them to separate and BAM your in the bag. Just pull the zipper with the lock still attached over the separated area...9/10 the zipper teeth will match together..sealing the bag and no one knows it was ever opened.

see for yourself here:

Also the Kyss bag chain looks pretty cheap as well.

Of course, we know nothing is 100% tamper proof. If man can make it, make and break it.

but perhaps the bag is more secure than it appears?
would love the hear what you have to say- those who currently own one.

thanks!

That video was very interesting to see. Wonder if it works like that on a metal zipper. That looked like a plastic one. But, it does bring up a valid point. Are these bags really making things more secure or just giving us a false sense of security?

I don't intend to use it as a safe while traveling. I don't even intend to use it the same way I'd use a Pacsafe even, which I have actually looked into, held one in my hand, and seriously considered before getting my Kyss bag. Like with any lock system, it's intended to use as a deterrent. While no locking system is foolproof, imho it's better than leaving a bag sitting out wide open on the beach for someone to just easily grab something from. I really wanted the Pacsafe to work, but it doesn't serve the function I want it to and that is to be able to lock itself to something else like a chair, or a post. There's just no way to do it. A Pacsafe's design is to deter slash and grab. What a Kyss bag is is a tote bag, not too much unlike your typical tote you'd take to the beach, only it's a tote bag with a small deterrent system. I don't think for a minute that it's foolproof or thief proof. If someone really wanted to get into it, they could. But for use on CC, for example, it'll suffice. The chain isn't the thickest gauge or the best quality, neither is the lock, but it works and it serves the purpose. I suppose you can always go to a hardware store and buy a heavier chain and sturdier lock to replace the default system.

I've used it at a local amusement and water park and it served me well. It is what it is: a tote bag with a chain that you can use to fasten around an immovable object so someone can't just easily snatch it or reach in it. It doesn't eliminate the need to be street/travel smart nor does it eliminate the need for common sense. FWIW, the demo in the aforementioned video used a suitcase, which you would expect to be more secure than a Kyss bag, but alas, it's not. I would never put my Kyss bag in checked luggage, but yet something that your average person would check is easily broken into via the zipper. YMMV

If anyone knows of a bag that's better made, with a better security system that functions like a Kyss bag in that you can strap it to something so someone can't just walk off with your bag, and it's fairly affordable (as in not $500 lol), I'd love to know about it. :)
