Hi Everyone
I just had to write and say that I think Disney is doing a great job with the Epcot pin event this year. It is light years better than last years event and I really feel like they listened to the complaints and suggestions they received from last year and made an effort to fix the problems.
First, the location was terrific. Being inside the old Millenium Village we were cool and had plenty of room. Everything was set-up well and well organized and spaced out nicely. There were several pin boards, a games area, a stage for seminars and shows and AMPLE tables for trading. It was comfortable and well appointed.
Next I feel the amount of 'freebies' we received was well worth the price of the event. I counted 22 'free' pins in all including the gift set, what the 'partners' (i.e. Disney Catalog, Disney Auctions, etc.) gave away, pins won at the games, pins given out for 'attending' the seminars and the pins that came with the information packet. Some were LE's, some rack pins and some were REALLY nice - especially the Stitch Disney Auction pin. I appreciated how these pins were distibuted as well - very organized and fair.
Now - the only complaint we heard throughout the day was there was no food - or the food was too far away (I didn't really understand this as we were in the middle of Word Showcase). Then, at 3:30PM, they started the 'reception' part of the event and wheeled out literally a dozen+ food tables. They had hot dogs, chicken fingers, sandwiches, salads, beans, corn, desserts and drinks (and other stuff I can't remember). I think the food was good and plentifuly (not unlike the candy treat
) and was a nice 'surprise' - I know I didn't expect it.
There was a lot of pin trading going on and I have to say everyone was really nice. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the event and getting into the spirit of pin trading.
I had a really good time today and want to let the folks at Disney responsible for this event that they did a great job. I contemplated not attending this year given my experience at last years event - I'm sure glad I changed my mind and went.
Thank you Disney Merchandising for putting together a wonderful event. Keep up the good work!!
