We will be on Magic Your Way Plus Deluxe Dining Package, with Park Hopper. So our Resort room key will have the following features:
1. Access to our room (...of course)
2. Access to theme parks
3. Deduct TS/Snack credits

My questions are related to the charging privileges on the Room Key. In recent trips, I prefer to make all the Room Keys not chargable. I want to do the same this time (and force to pay tips in CASH for Dining).

Last year we stayed in SSR and I requested no charging privileges on Room Keys upon check-in, and a line was printed on our room keys "NOT VALID FOR CHARGING".

However, during my stay I tried to activate in-room High-Speed Internet but failed. I spoke to Front Desk and the CM told me that it is because my room keys were not chargable. I passed the CM my room key but he ended up screwed it - he apologies that my room key can only use for room access - luckily this is our last night of stay and I used up all park tickets, and I can use DW's room key for Dining Plan.

So Questions are -
1). Is it true that if I need to use any in-room services (e.g. room service, high-speed internet, long distance), my room-key must be chargable? This doesn't make sense at all - I added a day of park tickets during my stay and they were able to do it.

2). Is it possible to allow charging privileges on my Key, while DW and DD4 remains "Not Valid For Charing"?

3). Out of Topic - It will be my 1st time using Park Hopper. Say I visit MK in the morning and then Epcot in the afternoon. Do I have to go thru a different entrance, or I just insert the card + fingerprint as usual?

1. Do you put a credit card imprint on file when you checked in before? If you didn't, then no, you would not have been able to charge the in room things with your room key. There would have been nothing to charge against. They would have had to trust you to come to to the front desk at checkout and settle the bill. Unfortunately, there are some people who would abuse that and leave without paying and Disney would have no way of getting that money.

2. It's very possible to get one room key chargeable and the rest not chargeable. There was no way in heck I was giving our 5 year old granddaughter charging prviledges! But her parents were able to charge. You just have to tell the front desk what you want and then not mix up the keys.

3. You will use the normal entrance turnstiles. There are none designated for "returning guests". You put in your card and do the scan (not a fingerprint) just like normal.

my understanding is that "not valid for charging" means exactly that: nothing can be charged back to the room, including room service, etc. did you pay for the park tickets with your room key, or a credit card on file?

yes, we always had our children's cards not "vaid for charging", while DH & my cards did not have the disclaimer. since the kidlets wouldn't be shopping without us:rolleyes: , we felt they didn't need it. also, it gave us piece of mind in case the card was lost.

entry into a different park process is identical to your initial entry: regular line, insert card & fingerscan.

Thank you for the replies.

disnut8 - yes, I have given credit card imprint at check-in, so I can enjoy express check-out. Yes - finger-scan (typo): would be scary if WDW requires fingerprint :lmao:

LSchrow - I visited front desk on 2nd or 3rd day and request add a extra day of my park tickets. I had two rooms (5 people) and the CM asked me which room I would like to charge to, and I said my room. So on departure date, I got a express check-out bill under my door: $2 x 5people = $10.

That was really weird for not allow me to use in-room internet if my room key is not chargable (and they had my CC imprint on file). Think about this - should I be able to make a local/long-distance call in room? If yes, they should still be able to charge me :-)

One more question - does room key look the same in different resorts? I am going to do a split stay (but I need to keep my KTTW card for GF since it has the Magic your way tickets) - just make sure I won't mix up :)
