THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - we're scheduled to leave on the 7 day Eastern cruise on July 27 and its my first; my sister's second, but we were unsure about these cards. Your a big help- - Thanks again.
NO - NO - no such thing as a dumb question - that's how we learn by asking question. It is called "Key To The World" card - you keep this card with you at all times and when you purchase items on the board or at Castaway Cay (Disney's Island) you show your card and the total purchase is charged to your room on the ship. You have to have the card to get on and off the ship and in your room. Every person on the ship gets a card and you should keep it on your at all times. If you don't want you kids to charge anything then you can tell them and they note that on the card so they can't charges drinks or games, etc. It looks like a little credit card. I'm sure there are others out there thay probably know more about it than I - I just learned about it from my sister who went on a cruise about a year ago and now we're all going in July.
A Key to the World (KTTW) card is the size of a credit card. It's your room key onboard and your charge card to charge all onboard purchases to your stateroom. It's also required for identification whenever you debark/reboard.
No, either they have charging privileges or they don't. You can visit Guest Services after boarding to have charging privileges taken off. But if you buy your daughter a soda mug and an arcade card or two, there's really no reason she'd need to charge anything.
I'm like you I wish I could put a limit on it, but I can't. But, my sister also said its worth the money to go ahead and buy the kids the soda mug and the arcade card - you'll have saved money in the long run. That what I plan on doing and I don't have to worry - the main thing the kids want they can have plenty of - drinks and games.
OHH one more thing - I think you can check on your charges during your trip so you can see what you've charged - if anyone out there knows about this let me know. I'd like to check it at least one or twice while I'm on the ship.

Here is what I know - you can purchase cards in increments of $10 in the arcade with your KTTW card. There is a Thread about the Arcade Cards so you can click on that thread and read about what people have said. Apparently though you've got to watch out or your children can purchase a lot of the arcade cards using the KTTW cards and rack up the $$ - go check out the thread about this. Its entitled "How to pay in the arcade". I think it will certainly enlighten you about this. IT did me.
