I did buy another $100 of Disney gift cards at Krogers yesterday. Couple of good things.
1) You can now use 2,000 points to get $2 off a gallon of gas. It's a summertime offer that expires on Sept 30. Don't know if other Kroger regions are doing this; this is Cincinnati.
2) Since I bought Disney gift cards, I got a catalina worth $10 off a $50 purchase at Disney.com or the
Disney Store. Unfortunately, it's not good on park tickets or some other items. But it's a good deal; especially if you want to buy some Disney items (maybe that princess dress for BBB).
I was really excited about this because after doing the math, it's better than my 5% discount at Target. I used fuel points on this Tuesday to fill up at a Kroger for the first time in a long time. I did save some money but have been pretty surprised to watch my gas gauge sink really quickly. I drive a lot (50 miles a day) so I'm used to seeing it fall, but after two days I was already at about half a tank. I feel like I'm getting at least 5 miles less per gallon! I can't decide if I want to push the Kroger fuel points since it's not worth it if I run out of gas faster. Anyone else notice a difference?
FYI, I'm used to close to 30 mpg, and doing the math now that I'll get about 400 miles on this tank means I'm doing 25 mpg.
Actually, my 5% discount at Target is better. I have a small car, so a small gas tank (around 12 gallons). I usually like to run the car at fumes before filling up, so my fill-ups are about 11 1/2 gallons. $250 in gift cards is a dollar off per gallon of gas, so I'll save $11.50 for every $250 of gift cards, or about 4.6%. By using the Target card, I'll save $12.50 for every $250 of gift cards, or 5%. However, Krogers is much more convienent than Target. Honestly, I haven't activated my card yet. Plus, I haven't seen any Disney cards at my Target. They're probably there; I've just haven't looked.
I haven't really thought about the gas mileage too much. We're allowed to use our fuel points at Shell as well..every 100 points is worth 10 cents off. I'll check next time I fill up and see.
