Opening night dinner review:
After having an interesting and tasty breakfast at Kouzzina, I was very excited to try it for dinner. The meal was quite satisfying, and I'm happy to share more pics.
Kouzzina Sangria:
Bread and butter (the butter had black Hawaiian sea salt on it):
Saganaki (seared haloumi cheese) - this was a delicious appetizer, and the chefs yelled "opa!" every time they seared the cheese
Kouzzina sampler for two - hummus, olives, tzatziki, grilled pita, cashews, stuffed grape leaves, shrimp, and spicy lamb meatballs. Another great appetizer
I ordered the fisherman's stew, which had snapper, scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, fennel, and bread. It was delicious.
Cinnamon stewed chicken with orzo and tomato. Our waitress said that this is Cat Cora's favorite dish, and that Cat's mother made it on Cat's birthday.
Gigantes beans - this was a nice, savory side dish.
For dessert, baklava with pistachio gelato:
And Greek style yogurt sorbet with berries and mint syrup - this dessert was no sugar added, and it was very nice - the yogurt had a nice tang.
Hidden Mickey in the entrance:
Overall, the meal was very satisfying and interesting. We don't do the dining plan, but I think this would be a very good choice for a 1-credit restaurant. The staff seemed excited about the new menu changes, and we were told that many of these recipes are truly from Cat and her family. The menu has a glossary in it, which defines many of the unusual terms in the menu - this was nice and helpful in making decisions (for example, we didn't know that ouzo is a popular alcoholic drink in Greece that is flavored with anise - it tastes like licorice, so we chose the sangria instead). This was definitely a good meal, and I hope other people enjoy it.
